Karen Pocock

1955-2025
Karen Pocock, 69, passed away on April 11, 2025 at Rib Lake Health Services. Karen was born July 6, 1955 to parents Jerome and Marjorie (Rhyner) Cypher in Medford. After being raised between the Westboro and Wisconsin Dells areas, Karen met Robert Pocock Sr. and settled down just outside Ogema to raise a family. While being a homemaker she was known for a variety of items from the hobby farm, where you could find their beer-drinking horse or the housebroken pet raccoon and piglet. She and her husband raised many beautiful gardens, having potatoes and other vegetables for canning or to share with neighbors. During weekends you could find her baking pies for many friends or many loaves of bread and other goodies for the family. After a stroke she spent her final 10 years at Rib Lake Health services. Being the social bug she got to know many of the staff, residents and their families on a personal level and normally brightened their days. During Ice Age Days you could catch her chasing people down to socialize or sell you a ticket to support the Lions Club. On Sundays you could normally catch her out at a pub with her grandson Edwin watching a Packer or Brewers game.
Karen is survived by her children, Terry (Mary) of Ogema, Jamie (Wendy) of SpringValley, John (Rachelle) of Ogema, Patricia (Lucas Torres) of Bessemer, Mich.; one stepson, Robert of the Philippines; eight grandchildren, Rashawn (Miryssa Anderson), Edwin, Denae, Diezel, Zack, Avianna, Zanika, Daphne; and seven step-grandchildren, Lisa, Lori, Ron, Nicholas, Danielle and Miranda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Patrick; step-grandson, Josh; and two stepchildren, Linda Roehl and Richard Pocock and his wife, Geneva.
Services will be held April 27, at Spirit Baptist Church (Hwy 86 Ogema), for 1 p.m. socialize, 2 p.m. service with lunch to follow. Duane Harper is officiating.
The family wishes to thank Rib Lake Health Services, Hope Hospice Taylor County, Spirit Baptist Church and the many friends that have helped her along the way.
