Gerald J. “Jerry” Stuessy


1937-2025
Gerald J. “Jerry” Stuessy, 87, of Medford, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano, while on a casino trip doing what he enjoyed. He was born May 16, 1937 in the town of Deer Creek, Taylor County to Casper and Rose (Lenzen) Stuessy. On Aug. 5, 1961, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Grant at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. Shortly after, Jerry was called to serve in the U.S. National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis serving from Oct., 1961 until his honorable discharge in April, 1965.
JerryandBettyresidedinthetownofMedfordwhere he worked on the Arndt Mink Ranch, then at Medford Fur Foods for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed classic cars, playing cards with his friends, going to casinos, trips to Las Vegas, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, making jerky, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Medford; children, Alan (Millie) of McKinney, Texas, Kevin (Jane) of Minnetonka, Minn., Todd (Sue) of Roberts, and Laurie (Tim) Gunneson of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Erik and Nicole Stuessy, Josh and Hana Stuessy, Cole and Tate Gunneson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike (Ilene) Grant of Medford, Bob (Linda) Grant of Milwaukee, Bernie (Ron) Oberley of Westboro, Don (Barb) Grant of Medford, Deb Grant of Medford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lois Morris, Betty (Howard) Brazeau, Bill Stuessy, and Marge Lisiecki; brothers-in-law, John Grant, Ed Grant, and Pete Fuchs; sisters-in-law, Mary Grant and Rita Fuchs; and niece, Robin Lisiecki.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating. Military honors provided by the Medford Area Military Honors Team will immediately follow the service at the church. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., Friday at the church.
