WI County Agent Association award recipients

The Wisconsin Association of County Agricultural Agents (WACAA) recently recognized members and industry partners during their annual awards and recognition program. An affiliate of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA), WACAA is a professional organization for county, area, and state Extension professionals to encourage excellence and professionalism in their work; improve the effectiveness of Wisconsin Extension programs; assist agents in professional improvement opportunities and recognize and promote superior achievement.

Sandy Stuttgen, Taylor County, specializing in livestock production, received the Distinguished Service Award and she will be honored at the NACAA annual meeting in Dallas, TX. The purpose of the Distinguished Service Award Program is to encourage and recognize excellence in the field of professional Extension for members with more than ten years of service, who have conducted outstanding programs and are held in high esteem by their fellow workers.

Luiz Ferraretto, Dairy Nutrition Extension Specialist, Department of Animal and Dairy Science, and PJ Leisch, UW Extension Entomologist, Director, Insect Diagnostic Lab, received Second Mile Awards for their outstanding support of Wisconsin county agricultural agents. In addition, WACAA honored Abby Bauer, Managing Editor of Hoard’s Dairyman Magazine, with the Friend of the County Agent Award.

Those agriculture agents receiving top communication awards included: Sandy Stuttgen, Taylor County Agriculture Educator, for her Fact Sheet that has also been selected as a NACAA National Finalist; Heather Schlesser, Marathon County Dairy Educator, for her Website/Online Content, Feature Story, and Educational Video; Sandy Stuttgen, Heather Schlesser, and William Halfman, State-Wide Beef Outreach Specialist for their Learning Module/ Notebook that has also been accepted as a NACAA National Finalist: Jackie McCarville, Regional Dairy Educator Grant, Green, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties, for her Newsletter and Katie Wantoch, State-Wide Farm Management Outreach Specialist, for her Computer Generated Graphic Presentation, Personal Column and with Michelle Bachand Farm Management Project Coordinator, their Event Promotional Package.

Jerry Clark, Regional Crops Educator in Chippewa, Dunn, and Eau Claire Counties received the Twenty-Five Year Service Award, WACCA greatly appreciates Wisconsin Agriculturist Magazine, Hoard’s Dairyman, and the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for sponsoring the WACAA Communications Awards.
