Rib Lake village spending on track to meet 2024 budget

SUBMITTED
At the April 10 meeting of the Rib Lake Village Board, board president William Schreiner reported on the year’s budget as it was in March.
With the year 25% gone, the general government budget is at 39%. He said 18% of the public safety budget has been used and the public works budget is at 23%. The culture and recreation budget is at 36%, but the library is a big part of that, and they pay the Village back at the end of the year. Benefits and insurance for Village employees are at 36% of the budget. This is a little high right now because the HSAs were fully funded. Health and human services is at 46%, but it is a one-time cost. Overall, the Village is at 20% of their projected budget for the year and revenue is at 10.8% of the projected overall revenue for the year.
In other business:
Police Chief Beckstrand reported that he attended a white-collar crime training.
The Board approved a Class B beer license for Tannery Creek Parkway.
The Board approved a resolution to reinstate the Village employee’s HRA plan with a new company. The previous company was sold to Point C, who kept all of the contracts from the prior company and kept them as-is for this year. At this point, the company is going through and making sure the contracts were approved for them instead of the previous company. No spending was changed, just the name on the paper.
Village trustee George Beck is pursuing switching where the feed from the Main Street cameras goes to the Police Department rather than a locked building.
President Schreiner reported on the CDBG project favorably, stating that the Village receiving a grant looked promising. He also stated, “it’s looking like we could do this whole project and not raise taxes.”
