FFA is an organization based on the ability to change the lives of the younger generation, giving them the most opportunities possible.

The Athens FFA Chapter has hosted and directed a lot of events in the last couple months, such as Drive Your Tractor to School Day, Miltrims Fall Fest, Pumpkin Carving, Thanksgiving Food Drive, first annual Athens FFA and FFA Alumni Farm Toy Show and Craft Fair and tie blankets for the Ronald McDonald House.

Drive Your Tractor to School Day was hosted at the high school in the spring where FFA members had the opportunity to drive their tractor to school instead of their car or having to ride the bus. Drive Your Tractor to School Day is a great way for our FFA members to wrap up the school year.

Miltrims Fall Fest was hosted for two days at Miltrim Family farms on October 7-8. Miltrims Fall Fest gave our FFA members the opportunity to give back to our community and gain a few volunteer hours.

We held our annual Halloween Party on October 26, where our FFA members carved pumpkins and listened to spooky music.

In November, the Athens FFA held their Thanksgiving Food Drive. Our FFA Chapter challenges grades 6 through 12 to bring in as many food items as possible to be donated to the Athens Circle of Joy. This year’s winner was the seventh grade class.

The first annual Athens FFA and FFA Alumni Farm Toy Show and Craft Fair was hosted at the Athens Community Hall on Dec. 10. The show brought in farm toy enthusiasts from all over the state. For this being our first year, it was a huge success, and we had a great turn out from our community.

To wrap up 2023, we held our Christmas party on Dec. 20 where we all worked together to make 12 tie blankets for the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield. A tie blanket is given to every child who stays at the Ronald McDonald house while they are receiving treatment. This event not only brought our FFA members holiday cheer, but it also brought those who couldn’t be home for the holidays joy as well.

The events we host for our members throughout the year give them the opportunity to have fun, build friendships, volunteer, help our community and develop leadership skills.
