Hit and run
On February 5 at 6:32 p.m., damage was discovered on a vehicle owned by Renee Sova, 55, of Medford, which had been parked in the parking lot at 219 S. Wisconsin Ave. since February 2. There was damage to the driver’s front side of the vehicle. No other vehicles in the parking lot had matching damage on that date.
Two vehicle crash
On Feb. 1 at 4:11 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle crash at 140 S. Main St. in Medford. A vehicle owned by Theodore Stroinski, 58, of Medford, was legally parked to the east of the northbound lane on S. Main St. A vehicle owned by Veronica Mahner, 24, of Medford, attempted to pull into the parking spot directly in front of Stroinski’s vehicle, scraping against the driver’s side front of vehicle in the process. This caused functional damage to both vehicles.
On Feb. 4, at 5:02 p.m., the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle crash at the corner of Whittlesey Ave. and Hwy 13. A vehicle operated by Tyson Butler, 39, of Medford, was sitting at the stop sign at Whittlesey Ave. and Hwy 13 intersection facing east. A vehicle operated by Steven Peterson, 60, of Westboro, was southbound on Hwy 13. Butler pulled out onto Hwy 13 to turn northbound and was struck by Peterson. Butler told officers he never saw the Peterson vehicle before pulling onto Hwy 13. Butler was cited for failure to yield the right of way from stop sign.
On Feb. 13 at 7:50 a.m., the Medford Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash on W. Allman St. near the city tennis courts. A vehicle operated by Katherine Brahmer, 42, of Medford, was stopped in traffic to make a left turn with two to three other vehicles ahead. A vehicle driven by Kaeden Waldhart, 18, failed to stop and struck the rear of Brahmer’s vehicle. Waldhart was cited for automobile following too closely.
On Feb. 12, at 10:49 a.m., the Medford Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash in the Medford Plaza Parking Lot. A vehicle operated by Kristine Floyd, 43, of Medford, was parked and occupied. A vehicle operated by Beverly Hoffman, 88, of Stetsonville, was backing out of parking space across the aisle, turning to go against the flow of the angled parking. While backing the Hoffman vehicle struck the rear of the Floyd vehicle causing rearbumper paint scuff, and mechanical issues with the backup camera. There was no damage to the Hoffman vehicle.
Car vs deer
On Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by Ronni Judnic, 55, of Rib Lake struck a deer while southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Medford.
On Feb. 7, at 5:23 a.m., a vehicle operated by Becky Baughman, 67, of Westboro, struck a deer while southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea.
One vehicle crash
On Feb. 5 at 11:45 p.m., a semi-truck with trailer operated by David Mathias, 28, of Athens, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 and turned eastbound onto Swift Ave. in the village of Stetsonville. Upon making the turn, the rear passenger side of the trailer struck a utility pole, breaking it off. The pole fell onto Swift Ave. and the vehicle left the scene. The driver was later identified and was cited for operating a commercial motor vehicle without a CDL, failure to notify policy of an accident, and hit and run property adjacent to a highway.
On Feb. 3 at 6:38 a.m., a vehicle driven by Nikeshia Lewis, 38, of Stanley, was traveling north on CTH H in On Feb. 1 at 5:15 a.m., the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy 13 and CTH O in Medford. A vehicle operated by Brandon Rice, 29, of Wisconsin Rapids, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13. A vehicle driven by Dawson Westrich, 23, of Medford, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13. Rice went to make a left hand turn onto CTH O believing that Westrich was stopped. Westrich’s vehicle impacted with Rice’s vehicle. Rice’s vehicle spun and ended up facing eastbound in the middle of the roadway. Westrich’s vehicle rolled and came to rest in the western ditch, facing northbound. Both drivers were transported by Emergency Medical Services. Rice was cited for failure to yield right of way while making a left turn and Westrich was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
the town of Aurora when she swerved to miss a deer. The vehicle entered the west ditch where it rolled over once and struck some trees before coming to rest in a northeasterly direction on its wheels. The vehicle sustained major damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with non life threatening injuries. The driver was not wearing her seat belt and advised law enforcement she did not have insurance. She was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
On Feb. 2 at 12:12 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jasmine Garcia, 26 of Medford was traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black, when the driver stated the vehicle began to deviate. The driver stated she attempted to correct it and then crossed the center line of traffic and hit the Black Birch Bridge, did a 180 degree turn and came to rest facing north in the northbound lane. The vehicle was towed from the scene, the driver was not injured and was wearing her seat belt. Garcia was cited for operating while suspended.

On February 12 at 9:47 p.m., the Medford Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash on W. Broadway Ave. (Hwy 64) at the intersection with Gibson St. Both units were westbound on Hwy 64. A semi-truck with trailer operated by Scott Machtan, 56, of Wisconsin Rapids, was stopped waiting to turn left onto S. Gibson St. A vehicle operated by Bradley Clarkson, 59, of Medford, moved to pass the truck on the right. It was reported that the semi, while initiating his left turn, swung right to turn left to allow room for the trailer, at this time the front bumper of the semi made contact with the Clarkson vehicle. Clarkson was cited for unsafe passing on right. MEDFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT
