Rowdy has me excited about

Bucks basketball

Saturday night I persuaded my girlfriend Amy to go with me to Rowdy’s Memory Lanes in downtown Athens for the first time after the Athens High School volleyball team’s WIAA Division 4 regional championship win against Stevens Point Pacelli.

Rowdy told me he bought tickets for “Boston” and him to attend a Milwaukee Bucks home game against the Boston Celtics this season. He even purchased a nice jersey of Milwaukee Bucks center Brooks Lopez for the game.

Seeing how excited Rowdy is to attend a Bucks game has motivated me to try to eventually attend a Bucks game in the future for the first time at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. I’ve always wanted to see Bucks basketball star player Giannis Antetokounmpo play a game in person.

I haven’t attended a Milwaukee Bucks basketball game since I was a senior in 1996 at Marathon High School. I was a member of the Marathon FFA and we took a field trip to a Bucks game at the Bradley Center, which has since been demolished.

Tom Ellenbecker Sr. of Athens told me at Rowdy’s Memory Lanes that he recently had a great time taking his family to a Milwaukee Bucks game. Tom is definitely a great guy who is a huge sports fan like myself.

I know Tony Schultz, the owner of Stoney Acres Farm in Athens, also loves taking his children to Milwaukee Bucks games. Schultz gained notoriety for ripping off his t-shirt at a Bucks game.

It was nice chatting with Kenny Krebsbach, owner of Krebsbach Service in Edgar, in the newspaper office on Monday afternoon. My father Jerry, who had the nickname Squeak back in the day, has told me stories in the past about his adventures playing adult basketball with brothers Kenny and Glen “Radar” Krebsbach in the Wausau City League.

Their brother, Randy Krebsbach, just happens to be my neighbor in Stratford. I thought a man standing in the photo I took of the Edgar High School class of 1961 this summer looked like one of the Krebsbach brothers, and I was right. It turns out Duane Krebsbach of Madison is a member of the Edgar class of 1961.

Duane Krebsbach, however, looks a lot yonger than many of his classmates. His brother, Kenny Krebsbach, told me on Monday that people in Madison call Duane a “Freak” of nature because his body looks much younger than his age. It turns out Duane plays basketball two nights each week and loves running too.
