Sally Kinner

1941-2023

Sally Kinner, age 82 of Rhinelander, passed away on Oct. 3, 2023, at the Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital.

A graveside service for Sally will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Westboro. You may leave your private condolences for the Kinner family at www.carlsonfh.com.

Sally was born on June 3, 1941, in Medford, to Clarence and Alice (Braun) Grittner.

Sally graduated from Westboro High School. She worked in Chicago, Illinois, where she met her future husband, Ken Kinner and they married in 1961. Sally and Ken would raise their family of three children in Westboro, before moving to Rhinelander in 1977. Sally earned her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked as an obstetrics nurse in Marshfield and Medford before transitioning to geriatric care at Golden Age in Rib Lake. When the family moved to Rhinelander, she continued her nursing career with Peterson Health Care working with both the elderly and developmentally disabled. She then worked at Golden Age in Tomahawk before working in home health care. Following her 40-year career as nurse, she worked as an assistant at Headwaters Achievement Center until her retirement.

During her life, family was always first and foremost for Sally. She was grateful that she could balance both careers as mother and nurse. Sally was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed her companions, both dogs and cats.

Sally is survived by her three children, Rob (Kim) Kinner, Shari Beth (Rick) Parks and Matt Kinner; her six grandchildren; and her four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken in 1996; and her parents.
