Knights finish their season strong with improved times

A young Cornell-Lake Holcombe cross country team made their way to the Cadott course Oct. 22, for Sectional competition. Although the Knights had the advantage of running the course earlier in the season, it also meant a larger field of experienced varsity runners, all vying for a chance to earn a spot at State.
Despite that, freshman Emma Wright made a good showing for her team, coming in 65th, with a time of 24:57.2, followed by freshman Alex Dixon, who placed 88th on the boys side (21:31.2).
Neither athlete qualified for the State meet, but their coaches are pleased with the performances and progress over the season.
“I figure, in a meet this size…to finish in the middle of the pack, is great,” said coach Greg “Cookie” Anderson.
