Owen-Withee’s Warren Borowski in the first round. Cortista then added another forfeit win for the co-op, putting them up 24-0.

Carlos Martinez started his 150-pound match against Evan Penterman with an aggressive takedown, but Penterman managed to escape back out into a neutral positioning before forcing his own takedown and pinning Martinez later in the round. Xavier Hoppe, Gilbert Sundermeyer, Jacob Hoppe and Izaac Sundermeyer all grabbed forfeit victories for Abby/Colby before Burt faced off against Jordan Wulff for the final match of the day. Burt took a quick lead with a takedown in the first and extended it with a takedown and a three-point nearfall in the second. While Wulff made a small comeback in the third, a reversal and takedown for Burt allowed him to weather the storm and come out on top, winning a 13-6 decision over his Thorp counterpart. Abby/Colby took home the win, 52-6.

The girls team also wrestled in Marshfield on Saturday. Makenna Herrmann took second place in her weight class, going 2-1 on the day.

The A/C senior defeated Hailey Hintz of Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards by technical fall, 17-2, in the quarterfinals before earning the exact same result, a 17-2 technical fall victory, against Sophi Baum of Mount Horeb/Barneveld in the semifinals. Herrmann dominated both matches, earning seven takedowns across both bouts while only giving up a pair of escapes in each.

While Herrmann jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first few moments of the finals against Mineral Point’s Dealya Collins, the Pointers’ junior was able to get a reversal shortly after and use the positioning to work a first round pin of Herrmann. The second place finish earned Herrmann 21.0 team points.

Camila Meraz and Kori Geiger also wrestled for the varsity squad on Saturday, but were knocked out before placing, both going 0-2 on the day.

PUTTING UP POINTS - Aiden Burt captures three of his 13 points in his match on Thursday after earning a takedown. He would go on to win a 13-6 decision.
