Injury would keep the Abby/Colby senior from competing in the semifinals or in his third place match and he would take fourth with 35.5 team points.
Alix Colby had the next best finish for the co-op boys, taking ninth in the 132pound bracket. After initially suffering a tough 5-2 decision loss in the opening round to Mineral Point’s Sammy Springer, Colby bounced back with a pair of wins in the consolation bracket. He quickly defeated Chris Dunow of D.C. Everest, winning by fall at the 0:39 mark, before taking on Emerson King of La Crosse Logan/ Central in the ninth place match.
King jumped out to a 3-0 lead by taking the initiative in the opening second, but Colby quickly countered with a reversal and held control for most of the first period. He eventually worked a four-point nearfall at the end of the round to hold a 6-3 lead and then a quick takedown in the second put him up 9-3. That score never came into the equation, however, as Colby later pinned King at the 2:46 mark, earning ninth place and 23.0 team points.
Aiden Burt also earned a victory for the co-op on Saturday. After suffering two losses to start the tournament, Burt took 13th after quickly pinning Marathon’s Darrin Vesely in his final match of the day.
