n September 10 - An officer was dispatched to the area of the Kwik Trip gas station for a traffic complaint. Dispatch advised an unknown employee or individual at the gas station observed a vehicle drive over the curb and onto the grass while entering the parking lot.

The officer arrived and observed the vehicle in the parking lot. The officer parked nearby and waited for the vehicle to leave. The officer observed the vehicle not to stop at a nearby stop sign. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver. The officer observed the male driver to have glassy or watery eyes and slurred speech. The man said he had his driver’s license and did not have insurance on his vehicle. The man said he drank a couple bottles of beer and was driving from Marshfield to Stetsonville. The man agreed to doing the field sobriety tests.

After the tests, the officer asked the man if he would be willing to do a preliminary breath test. The man said he would not be willing to perform the test and was arrested for operating while under the influence (second offense). The officer transported him to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department where the man denied an evidentiary chemical test of his breath. The man was issued a citation for operating while under the influence, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failure to stop at a stop sign. The man was then released to a responsible party.

n September 10 - An officer was working stationary radar and observed a vehicle turn onto North Fourth Street in Abbotsford. The officer noticed that the vehicle made a wide turn and was driving on the wrong side of North Fourth Street driving southbound in the northbound lane of travel. The officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle and met with the driver.

The officer observed there to be an open can of beer in the cup holder near the driver’s side of the vehicle. The officer asked the man if he had any alcohol that night and the man said he had one beer. The officer observed the man to have glassy or watery eyes. The officer asked the man if he’d be willing to do some standardized field sobriety tests and the man agreed. Prior to the tests, the officer ran the man’s information through dispatch and he came back with no valid driver’s license. After the tests, the officer asked the man if he would be willing to perform a preliminary breath test and the man agreed. The result of the test was 0.181.

The officer arrested the man for operating while under the influence and transported him to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department.

The man was given citations for operating while under the influence (first offense), operating without a valid driver’s license, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration (first offense). The man was then released to a responsible party.
