n The Village of Curtiss was approached about placing a ball field in the Curtiss Lions Park. The board president Betty Rettig said she was approached about the field and said it had been a ball field in the past and could potentially house another field in the future.
Trustee Jonathan Unruh said the park would be better served to the people of Curtiss if it was converted into a soccer field. The board said the item would be brought up at a future meeting where they could decide whether to purchase or create goals for a soccer field.
n Village clerk Carol Devine and Tomas will be heading to Neillsville January 23 for a preparedness exercise. The duo will learn about emergencies in the area and how the village can help facilitate emergency services by providing a shelter, or command center for emergency services.
n Public Works Director Larry Swarr said the village has already gone through more than half of its supply of a sand and salt mixture to put on slippery roadways. He asked the board if he’d be able to purchase more loads from the county to last the village through the rest of the winter season. The board approved Swarr’s proposal and Swarr said he would be able to store any leftover sand by covering it after April 15.
n Swarr stated a manhole was hit by a plow truck and needed to be replaced. The village got a spare manhole from Abbotsford who said they would have more manholes and other parts available after a street project they are looking to complete in 2023. Swarr said he would want to buy some spare parts from Abbotsford to have on hand.
