The Colby Hornet varsity golf team played a 18 hole conference tournament at River’s Edge golf course, Marshfield, on Friday, May 13. The meet was a mash-up of the entire conference.

The top three teams were Mcdonell/Regis with a score of 334, Bloomer with a team score of 355 and Neillsville with a team score of 358. The Colby Hornets varsity golf team shot a team score of 424.

The top three golfers for the Colby Hornets golf team were Brayden Boyer with a score of 97, Kaden Weise with a score of 105 and Carson Rau with a score of 108.

The Colby Hornet varsity golf team travelled to Neillsville Country Club on Thursday, May 12. They competed for conference points for their conference tournament coming up. The Neillsville varisty golf team hosted the tournament.

The top three finishing teams were Neillsville with a team score of 167, in second place was Columbus Catholic with a score of 187 and third place was Stanley-Boyd with a score of 203. The Colby Hornets golf team shot a team score of 221.

Brayden Boyer led his team with a score of 53. Carson Rau followed with a score of 55, Kaden Weise shot a score of 56, Brody Decker followed them with a 57 and Isaac Raatz with a score of 78.

“Neillsville is perceived as a small course to most, but the hills and playing the ball down without winter rules I think added to the difficulty the course already plays,” said head coach Brandon Butkus.

The Colby Hornets varsity golf team shot out at Owen’s Meadowview golf course on Tuesday, May 10. They compete in the tournament for conference points. The greens were soft and golfers had to throw aggressive shots into the greens.

The team placed third with a season low of 183. Coming in front of them was Columbus Catholic with a score of 176 and in first place Neillsville won with a score of 171.

Junior Kaden Weise finished in eighth place with a score of 42, senior Brayden Boyer finished in 11th place with a score of 45, senior Carson Rau finished in 14th place with a score of 47 and senior Brody Decker finished 16th place with a score of 49.

“The course conditions were wet but the greens held well. It was great to witeness their rounds tonight. Smiles all around and some impressive shots made,” said Butkus.
