_ March 24 - An officer located a trailer for sale on Facebook Marketplace matching the exact description of the trailer that was stolen on March 13.

Photos of the trailer was attached to the post. The trailer was the same color and layout of the trailer that was stolen. The trailer had the same damage to the left fender of the trailer that had been stolen. The post stated the trailer was located in Loyal.

The officer contacted the seller through Facebook messenger and set up a meeting with him to view the trailer at a gas station in Curtiss.

The officer made contact with the seller who had the trailer attached to the rear of the truck he was driving. The officer explained the situation to the seller and advised him that the trailer may be stolen.

Dispatch advised the officer the trailer returned with a stolen status.

The officer questioned the seller about where he obtained the trailer. The seller provided the officer with a bill of sale. He told the officer a man was using the trailer to help a mutual friend move and when they were done moving, the man offered the trailer to him for $500. The seller said it was too good of a deal to pass up. He had no idea the trailer was stolen.

The seller provided the officer with the contact number for the man. The officer called the man over the phone and asked him if he sold the trailer to the seller. He said he did.

The seller was advised to unhitched the trailer and he was free to leave. The owner stated he would come to Curtiss and pick up the trailer. The officer advised dispatch that the trailer had been recovered and the stolen status could be cleared.

The officer was met with the man at the police station. The officer asked the man if he could explain where he got the trailer. He initially said he bought the trailer from a man in Colby. When asked how much he purchased the trailer for, he did not remember.

The officer asked the man if he was being honest and he said no. He said he took the trailer without the owner knowing. He said he knew the owner of the trailer and used to work for him. He said his dad was friends with the owner and he just borrowed the trailer and forget to bring it back.

The man told the officer he was at a friend’s house down the street from the the owner’s shop; he saw the trailer as he was leaving and knew he was moving and could use it to haul his stuff. He hooked his truck up to the trailer and took it without asking the owner.

The man said he used the trailer to haul his belongings to his new residence and he also helped a friend move, hauling some things for his friend. He did not know how to return the trailer to the owner without him being upset. Instead of returning the trailer, he sold it.

The officer asked the man why he did not just drive to the owner’s shop and talk to him about it. He said he should have and regretted not doing that.

The officer placed the man under arrest for theft.

_ March 21 - An officer saw a red Honda ATV driving infront of his patrol vehicle with a male driver and female passenger. The ATV was traveling on the roadway, approach a stop sign and did not stop for the stop sign.

The officer got behind the ATV and activated the emergency lights and siren signaling for the ATV to stop. The ATV did not stop and continued traveling west. The female waved her hand forward to the driver signaling for him to keep going and not stop. The officer recognized both individuals from prior law contacts. The ATV accelerated and was traveling 40 mph in a posted 25 mph zone.

Due to the ATV actively fleeing and choosing not to stop the officer advised Clark County Dispatch of the pursuit.

The officer followed the ATV running parallel to the railroads tracks. The ATV traveled north through TP Printing parking lot at a high rate of speed. The ATV crossed West Spruce and was almost struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.

The officer followed the ATV around the Abbotsford watertower and into the Northside Apartment parking lot and attempted to go over a snow bank. The officer attempted to block the ATV from getting out of the parking lot with his squad, the ATV struck the front side of the squad and was able to drive between it and the snow bank.

The ATV got stuck trying to escape over another snow bank. It was able to get free before the officer got to them. The ATV was able to leave the parking lot and continued fleeing. The officer attempted to block the ATV on the corner, which resulted in the ATV striking the squad vehicle again on the rear passenger side door.

The ATV was able to flee to the parking lot of an apartment building, and the individuals jumped off and ran into the building. The officer exited his squad, drew his service weapon and pursued both individuals on foot. The officer made entry into the building and yelled for them to stop. The individuals complied. The officer advised them both to lay flat on the ground. The male complied and the female did not and was physically escorted to the ground.

The officer placed handcuffs on both individuals and told them they were under arrest. The female’s sister was standing in the apartment asking what was going on. At that time another officer arrived on scene to assist. The officers escorted the individuals out to the squad cars and asked why they didn’t respond to the emergency lights and siren. Both said they were scared they would get in trouble for skipping school.

_ March 22 - An officer met with a male at the CAPD in regards to a child custody compliant.

The male said that yesterday, sometime in the afternoon, his girlfriend left with their daughter while he was at work. When he arrived home they were gone. The officer asked if there is any child custody agreement in place and he said there was not. The officer asked if he feels his daughter is in any danger. He said she is not because she is with her mother.

The male only wanted it reported that the woman left the apartment with his daughter.

_ March 22 - An officer was notified of an incident that occurred near the intersection of Highway 29 and Highway 13.

The officer spoke to the Wood County deputy who told the officer that she had taken a report from a female. The officer was told that a female was backhanded in the face while she was driving and said it occurred in the Abbotsford area.

The officer called the female and asked what had happened. The female said on March 21 she was driving in her car with a man and her daughter. The male was in a the front passenger seat and the child was in the rear seat. She said she and the male had been arguing and he became very upset and was yelling and flailing his arms. As they were exiting Hwy. 29 to get off at the Hwy. 13 exit, he had backhanded her in the face. She said she was scared and wanted to get home so she did not stop and continued driving to her residence.

The female stated during the argument the male was high on methamphetamine. She said that the male told her that he would have his sister from Florida come and beat her up and that he is not afraid to “poke” someone. She said he carries knives and has made threats to beat up people and stab people in the apartment complex they both reside at. She said she reported this to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.

The female stated she had send a picture of the bruise on her face to the Wood County deputy.

The female stated she and the male lived in the same apartment complex but have never lived together. The officer asked the female what her relationship with the male is and she stated they had dated for about a month and broke up the day prior.

The female placed a restraining order on the male.

_ March 22 - An officer met with a landlord at the CAPD in regards to a neighbor of one of his rental properties digging a trench on his property in Abbotsford.

The landlord said he owns the property and the vacant lot on the north side of that residence and had filled in the lot with dirt and put a drainage system in the lot for water runoff that was approved by the City of Abbotsford. He said the person who lives on the northside of that lot had gone onto his property and dug a trench in the dirt. He said he did not give him permission to be on his property or dig the trench. The offi cer told the landlord he would speak to them and tell them to stay of his property.

The officer went and spoke to the male. The male told me that the landlord piled up snow close to the property line and now that is melting, the water is going into his basement. He said he dug a small trench to divert the water. The officer understood what he was saying but told the male he could not go onto the landlord’s property and dig a trench. The officer warned the male to stay off the rental property.

The officer was requested to call the landlord back regarding the incident. The landlord told him that he was just at the property he owns and that the male had dug up a new trench and uncovered the drainage pipe that the City of Abbotsford installed on the property.

The officer went to go speak to the male and found him outside with a hoe. He took the officer over to where he was digging out the drain pipe and showed him the water. The officer asked the male if he had remembered the officer telling him about an hour ago not to go onto the landlord’s property and to not be digging trenches on property that was not his.

The male stated he understood what the officer told him but he was upset about the placement of the drain pipe and the snow piles. The officer told the male if he has concerns he needs to speak to the city and not dig them up himself. He then showed the officer a hole in the ground and claimed it was the property line. The offi cer told him that he would need to show a survey marker to prove lot lines again to soeak to someone at city hall.

The officer explained to the male that he would be receiving a citation in the mail.

_ March 22 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford address in reference to a wallet that was found.

Upon arrival the officer met with a male and was told a driver was following a vehicle northbound on Hwy. 13, and saw a wallet fell off the back of a vehicle. The male stated the driver tried to follow the vehicle to Dorchester and attempted to find an officer to turn the wallet over to. The male said the driver had come to his house to give him the wallet and call the police department.

The officer located a phone number and called the person who the wallet belonged to.

_ March 23 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford residence for possible domestic abuse. The dispatch advised the officer a female was hit and was locked in a bedroom in an apartment with a male attempting to enter the bedroom.

The officer arrived at the residence with the assistance of a Clark County deputy. The male was told to stay with the deputy while the officer spoke to the female.

The female stated she went over to a friend’s house earlier in the night and returned late to her apartment around 10 p.m. The female stated she is in a relationship with the male and they both live together in the apartment. They got into an argument. The male thought she had been cheating on him with another male. The female noticed he had been drinking beer, as there were cans in the kitchen.

During the argument the female stated she was pushed to the ground and the male laid on top of her and began to hit her.

She stated she was slapped five times on her face and the officer noticed visible scratches to the left side of her face.

The officer spoke to the male. He stated he did get into an argument with the female but would not tell the officer what about. He then stated the female wanted to commit suicide and had thoughts of hurting herself with a knife or taking medication.

The officer then went to speak the female again and asked if she had thoughts of harming herself. The female stated the male wanted to commit suicide the day prior. The female told the officer the male would use medication to overdose on and would use a knife to cut himself as well. The officer asked where the medication was located at. She then brought the officer into the bedroom as she hid the medication in the closet of her bedroom.

The officer went to speak with the male again to ask him if he wanted to harm himself. The male did not answer the officer. The officer placed him under arrest for domestic abuse and disorderly conduct.

_ March 24 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford residence in regards to a neighbor’s dog on the complainants porch. The woman stated her neighbor’s large Husky broke off its leash in the backyard and was running around the neighborhood.

The officer had recently responded to a similar complaint where the dog broke its leash. The officer located the dog. The very friendly dog ran up to the officer and he secured the leash. The offi cer made contact with the owner and advised the leash had to be replaced and to not continue to “fix” it as the dog had broken it at least once before. The owner stated he understood and apologized for the dog being loose.

_ March 25 - An officer was dispatched to an Abbotsford residence to a disturbance involving two males with guns.

The officer arrived at the residence along with two Clark County deputies. They observed numerous people were outside of the residence and they were yelling and pointing saying the two males ran on foot. A deputy and officer searched for the individuals. The other deputy stayed on scene and was provided descriptions of the males.

The deputy searching found one of the males in custody and brough him back to the original location. The victim were shouting that the male the deputy had in custody is one the males involved and had a gun.

The officer searched the male and found nothing of evidentiary value was located. The officer asked him questions and the male refused to answer. The male was read his miranda rights and placed under arrest.

The officer was advised by Clark County deputy that he had possession of the handgun that was taken from the suspect.

The other officer spoke to the witness and she stated she had heard someone knocking on her door, she answered and two males were asking for her cousin. She said her mother and other siblings came out to see what was going on becuase the males were yelling. She said the male had pushed the door open ad nwas yelling. The witness said her uncle, who lives next door had heard the yelling and came outside. The witness said that her Uncle had seen a selver and black handgun in the suspects waistband on his back. She stated while the two males were yelling her uncle grabbed the gun out of the suspect’s waistband and then the other male pulled out his handgun, pointing it at everyone telling them to not mess with his family.

The witness said when the two males saw the emergency lights and took off running.

The officer asked for a description again of the other male. The witness stated the males lived down the road and pointed to where they lived.

The officer went to the residence to search for the other male but did not find him.

The officer was advised by an officer from Spencer Police Department that they located the other assailant and he was brought into the police department.
