Northcentral FFA Showcase Auction is March 25
The sixth annual Northcentral FFA Showcase Auction will be held on Friday, March 25, at the RJ Stockewell Inc. Land and Auction company located on Hwy. 13 between Dorchester and Stetsonville.
The event will benefit the FFA chapters of Athens, Abbotsford, Colby, Gilman, Medford and Owen-Withee.
“As you know, financial support is extremely important to our local FFA chapters, as each of these chapters relies on donations and fundraisers to provide premier leadership opportunities to students interested in agricultural education at their local high schools,” says Abbotsford FFA advisor Mr. John Slipek.
Last year’s fish dinner and FFA auction was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it returns this year with great support from the local FFA chapters and area agricultural businesses.
Over five hundred people attended the fish dinner sponsored by the Dorchester EMS and FFA showcase auction later in the evening when it was previously held.
Over one hundred different items were included in the sale which came from businesses, schools and individuals from the six schools involved in the sale. A nice number of items have already been consigned to this year’s sale.
The evening activities will include an all you can eat dinner sponsored by the Dorchester EMS from 4-7 p.m., with the sale of items beginning at 6 p.m. People will have a chance to view the items on display prior to the start of the sale.
Advertising of the sale will take place in some of the local newspapers and radio stations. Each business donating an item for the sale will be announced at the sale and will be included in advertising a the conclusion of the sale.
The showcase auction will look to attract a diverse crowd of parents, community leaders, FFA alumni members, business and industry representatives, as well as farmers in the dairy, crop and livestock production areas.
The success of the auction will depend on the added support of people in the business community who supply the exciting auction items. The auction will be open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend.
The six schools involved in the auction are responsible for obtaining items for sale. Auction items will include gift certificates, agricultural items, food and beverage products, items made by students in each school, clothing and apparel, feed and seed products, cheese and meat baskets and other items.
A total of about 150 items from businesses within the six school districts will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
