Come in to the Abbotsford Public Library for lovely February programs.

Starting Feb. 1, the library will once again be hosting a mystery date with a book. Your mystery date will use the language of flowers to get your attention. Choose a book based on the coded meanings associated with different flowers.

Will your date bring death and destruction, magic and danger, fun and adventure, or romance and passion? Check out a wrapped book based on its listed flowers to get a surprise read. Review the book for a small chocolate prize. This program will run through Feb. 19.

On Friday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m., youth are invited to come party it up at the library’s winter luau. Dress in your Hawaiian best for summer games, activities, and crafts. Afterward at 7 p.m., stay to watch a recently released movie. Stop in or call the library to sign up. Monday, Feb. 14, from 3-5 p.m., crafters of all ages can stop in and make a perler bead valentine to give as a gift or keep for yourself. Walkin activity, no sign up required. Learn how to made maple syrup in your backyard with author and local maple syrup producer, Conrad Christensen. The presentation will be held Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.

The presentation will cover how to make maple syrup, production methods for at home use, how to insure a quality outcome, and recipes to make with your finished result. Christensen’s book, “Mapling at Almosta Ranch” will be available for purchase after the program.

As always these are in addition to the library’s regular monthly programing. For youth, story times are held on Feb. 4 and 18 at 10:30 a.m. For adults, book club is held on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. The club will be discussing “American Dirt” by Jeanine Cummins. Stop in the library for a copy of the book. No sign-up required for these events.

There is also the monthly adult craft night held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. This month, Feb. 17, crafters will be making a heart “felt” chicken ornament. Sign up required for craft night.
