Theodore “Ted” B. Polzin, age 78, of Colby, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at Country Terrace Assisted Living in Abbotsford under the tender care of St. Croix Hospice.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. Rev. Donald Bruce presided. Interment followed at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery with military honors provided by the Stetsonville American Legion Post #519. Family and friends were welcomed from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.

Ted was born on Feb. 4, 1943, the son of Bernard and Delores (Turner) Polzin in Bloomer. At age two, his mother passed away and he was raised in Chetek by his grandparents. Ted moved back to Abbotsford and graduated in 1961. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served in Pawtuxet River, Md., from 1961-63. On Oct. 23, 1965, Ted was united in marriage to Bonnie Wibben at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. He worked for 44 years in maintenance for PCA in Colby.

Ted was a volunteer with the Colby Fire Department for 28 years. He was also a member of the Colby Credit Union, Christ Lutheran Church and the Stetsonville American Legion Post #519. Ted enjoyed his cottage on Willow Lake, fishing and hunting. He especially cherished his children and grandchildren. Ted will be most remembered for his smile. Ted is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie; three children: Brian (Lisa) of Iowa, Craig (Christine) of Stratford and Jennifer (Troy) Christnacht of Hortonville; nine grandchildren: Robert, Marshall, Matthew, Chelsea, Courtney, Hayden, Peyton, Jack and Paige; four step-grandchildren: Cody, Kimberley, Ben and Cole; two great-grandsons: Noah and Eli and one step-greatgranddaughter, Athena. He is further survived by his eight siblings: Esther Bremer, John (Marcia) Polzin, Roger (CJ) Polzin, Ronald (Claudia) Polzin, David Polzin, Bernice (Steve) Mertens, Charles Polzin and Gloria Polzin (Jeff Voss); two sisters-inlaw, Marion Polzin and Bonnie Prissel; his motherin- law, Marian Wibben of Colby; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Douglas; his sisters: Mary (Bob) Schalk and Nancy Polzin; two brothers: Bob Prissel and James Polzin; a brother-in-law, Allen Bremer; a sister-in-law, Deb Polzin; step-mother, Lois Polzin and father-in-law, Robert Wibben.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Country Terrace for their excellent care of Ted and also to Karisa, Rhonda and Chaplain Randy at St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care as well.
