Kornfield Friends – Lulu Roman, Irlene Mandrell, Jana Jae and Special Guest, T. Graham Brown – will bring a bit of “Kornfield Kounty” to Spencer’s LuCille Tack Center for the Arts on Friday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 pm when “Remembering Hee Haw” hits the stage in a musical extravaganza that will have you singing, clapping, laughing and crying – all at the same time.

Hee Haw, the iconic variety show famous for its comedic skits, bedtime stories, All-Jug band, music and a host of popular musicians, made its prime-time debut on CBS more than 50 years ago and continues to air in reruns on RDFTV.

Among the three original cast members, Lulu Roman, is most remembered for her role in the All-Jug band and her deadpan manner while sitting on the sofa in the parlor.

“It was light-hearted. You didn’t have to think about a thing when you watched it,” Roman recalls. “All you did was enjoy the silliness and laugh a little. It took your troubles off your mind for the day or for an hour.”

“It’s overwhelming, truly, that after so many years the love is still there,” Roman continues. “The people are precious. They still love Hee Haw and they still tell us about it. After almost 50 years that’s pretty astounding.”

Jana Jae is known for her blue fiddle with, which she performed solo and as part of Buck Owens’ band. A champion fiddle player, Jae recalls when Owens first approached her about playing it.

“Being a purist, I was horrified. I later realized it would end up being the best thing I ever did, as it became my trademark both on and off the show.”

“Hee Haw was a wonderful thing to be a part of,” remembers Jae. “It was fun. It was always interesting, always different and the music was always great. I’m very proud to have been a part of it and now I’m very proud to be bringing this show to the people who watch Hee Haw.”

Irlene Mandrell rounds out the original cast members and shared her voice as one of the “Hee Haw Honeys” during the show’s last eight years. Country Music Association award-winning recording artist T. Graham Brown will join the trio as a special guest.

Patrons are reminded that masks are required for all Tack events. Tickets for “Remembering Hee Haw” may be purchased online at lucilletackcenter.com or by calling 715-659-4499.
