“We’re saying what he said,” laughs Matt Vee, referring to the one and only Neil Diamond.

Matt, along with cousins Jeff and Tommy Vee, music veterans and sons of the legendary Bobby Vee, join forces with their family and friends as The Killer Vees to celebrate the music of Neil Diamond at Spencer’s LuCille Tack Center for the Arts on Thursday, Sept. 23. at 7 pm.

“This is not a tribute show,” says Tommy Vee. “This is a celebration of an amazing musical icon, one we all love and respect. We have been fans since we were in elementary school and first learning our respective instruments and have played many of these tunes over the years in various bands.”

“We have recruited an incredible group of singers and players and have gone back to the original records,” he explains. “It’s all about the vocals and Matt nails it. It’s a rockin’ show!”

The Vees grew up on the road and in the business and have spent the better part of the last 40 years wowing audiences around the world.

When the Killer Vees were formed in 2008, the guys added Matt’s talented wife, JuIie Velline, to the group. Together they have performed, recorded and/or toured with a virtual who’s who list of rock-and-roll stars including: Bobby Vee, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Tim Rice, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fabian, The Shirelles, The Chiffons, Peter Noone and many others.

Neil Diamond was a Tin Pan Alley songwriter in the mid-60’s when he penned songs recorded by everyone from Elvis Presley to Deep Purple and, of course, the Monkees’ classic, “I’m A Believer.”

As a singer, Diamond sold over 100 million records worldwide with hits like “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue,” and “Sweet Caroline”– music that became the soundtrack of one generation after another.
