The store wants to support local farmers and other local businesses. They put an emphasis on the locallygrown and more natural aspects of their products. “The more we can promote locals, the better,” said LaValley.

Along with their own meat products, they also sell cheese from Yellowstone Cheese in Cadott as well as soaps made by Weaver’s Soap Company and products from Lupine Gardens, both out of Amery. They also sell ice cream treats, coffee, Bloody Mary mix, Kickass Beef Jerky products, and Grandma Dotes Dips, which is located out of Rhinelander.

The store also sells art pieces made by local artists. Inside of the store, there are a number of artworks and pictures on the walls as well as woodwork tables used for displaying purposes. LaValley said that all of these decorations are for sale. “So even though we use them as displays, they are available for purchase. [The artists] are very, very talented people,” said LaValley.

Black River Meat Market recently introduced their pet section to the store. This section currently has freshwater fish for sale and some pet supplies. “It’s slowly growing. We’ll add to it as we go. We’d like to get in organic dog food and freeze-dried raw [dog food]. We really push the raw side of pet food,” said LaValley. Black River Meats also has a raw dog food line called Black River Raw. LaValley said that Raw Rations Pet Food & Wellness in Sauk City distributes a lot of their dog food.

As time goes on, Black River Meats and their new meat market hope to continue growing and expanding, adding more products and services for their customers, all while supporting local and small businesses in the area.
