Fresh off of recently being named honorable mention all-state, and also a unanimous choice for first team Marawood - North honors, Abbotsford High’s Cade Faber garnered even more recognition for his basketball playing prowess.

Faber, along with local area standouts Drew Guden of Edgar, Taber Fawley of Phillips and Hunter Wright of Auburndale, was chosen last week to represent the WIAA D-4 Boys Red Roster in the 2021 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Star game on Thursday, July 15. They will play against the White Roster, which will be made up of players from the southern schools in the state.

The game is scheduled to be played at the Just-A-Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells, with the D-4 game to start at 10:45 a.m., though the WBCA website does say times and dates will be subject to change, and will observe social distance and CDC health guidelines.

Faber finished his high school career with 1,167 points, a new school record for an Abbotsford boys basketball player. In his final year with the Falcons, Faber averaged over 20 points a game, He also finished the 20-21 season as the state’s second leading rebounder, with over 14.5 rebounds per game.

The WBCA All-Star game represents one more chance for Faber to flash his skills in a prep game, while also playing for a good cause. In order to play in the game, Faber will have to raise a minimum of $500 for the Milwaukee Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) fund, and the Camp Wawbeek fund.

The MACC fund was started in 1976, and has since raised over $65 million dollars for childhood cancer research and related blood disorders.
