DEAR RURAL WISCONSIN, Wisconsin has long been defined by its rural communities—their character, the crops and livestock they produce, and the generosity of their people. Now, their leadership and openness to renewable energy are powering our state and creating a healthier future for everyone. As clean energy advocates, we spend a lot of time talking about how wind and solar projects benefit Wisconsin, but not enough time thanking the rural communities fueling our state's clean energy transition. So from all of us, thank you. By allowing renewable energy projects to take root in your community, you're building a better Wisconsin. A solar or wind farm in your town means kids in other parts of Wisconsin don't have to live near a coal plant that makes them sick. It means that less of our energy dollars are being sent out-of-state for coal and natural gas. Instead, homegrown, clean energy is being generated right here in Wisconsin for the benefit of our communities. Change can be hard. And we know that hosting renewable energy in your communities often means altering landscapes and rethinking land use. Your willingness to adapt and collaborate inspires all of us to think about the world we want to leave to our children and grandchildren. Thank you for your legacy of stewardship and for everything you do to build a strong, healthy Wisconsin powered by clean energy.
