Collaboration, fall sports, strategic planning and more It’s hard to believe that it is already the end of September. I believe we are off to an amazing start of the school year! All positions are filled, and staff, students and families are working closely together to provide the best learning experiences possible for our students. The school district held a weeklong food drive to help restock the food pantry following the fire. It was an overall great success, and we’d like to thank all students, families, staff and community members who contributed during this time. In conjunction with the food drive, a big thank you for those who participated in the minute-to-win-it and 50/50 raffle at the volleyball game, and also the 50/50 raffle at the football game. All proceeds from those events went to the Loyal Fire Fund. A special thank you to the School District of Colby and the Amherst football program for their donations to the fire fund. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated. #LoyalStrong All summer maintenance projects are basically complete except for some fine turning of the boilers for the heating season. To give an update on the outside concession stand, we are working with the contractors with the goal of getting the building up before the first snowfall. You will notice progress towards this goal in the near future. I would like to give a huge “thank you” to the contractors who are working hard to make this happen! Early release Wednesdays have gone smoothly the past three weeks. I would like to thank our families for being flexible during this time, because collaboration is a very valuable time for our teachers to make sure that all students are learning at high levels. Cahill Studios of Photography is our new school photographer. We have had very positive feedback on our school and athletic pictures. Thank you to the Cahill team for doing an awesome job! Congratulations to Isaac Jakobi on earning first place on his agricultural services proficiency at the Wisconsin State FFA Convention. We wish you good luck at the National FFA Convention! I have been working on the consolidation financial feasibility study with Mr. Joe Green, Greenwood superintendent, and two representatives from Baird Financial. We have met several times and Baird is planning on presenting at a joint school board meeting near the end of October. Ourannualschoolboard meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. We are continuing to collaborate with Greenwood in several ways. College level English is off to a great start. We have six students from Greenwood that have joined our students in this class. Throughout the summer, marching band students have been practicing together in preparation for parades and homecoming performances. One act play has been practicing together and performances are coming up, starting in October. District level of competition takes place on Oct. 14 at Regis. Loyal and Greenwood staff members met in Greenwood on Friday, Sept. 27, to receive guidance on the next step of our High Reliability School (HRS) training, which was led by presenter Mike Evans. Level two of the HRS process focuses on instructional strategies. Fall sports that are co-oped with Loyal and Greenwood include: middle school /high school cross country and middle school/high school football. The policy committee and I continue to work with NEOLA on updating our current policies. We will have our policies fully updated for the 2025-2026 school year and they will be available on our school district website at that time. The district hired Nexus Solutions to facilitate the process of developing our strategic plan for the future. First steps include developing an Education Action Team (EAT) that consists of district staff. This process also includes a task force that is made up of community members. See the graphic and article below for more information, or visit www.surveymonkey. com/r/loyalschools if you are interested in volunteering for this team. In closing, I would like to thank staff, students and families for a great start to the school year! I am excited to see what the rest of the school year brings. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Thank you! District Administrator Chris Lindner
