David D. Doberstein

1944-2025

David D. Doberstein, age 80, of Ogema, passed away April 5, 2025 after a brief stay at Wausau Aspirus Hospital.

David was born on Dec. 13, 1944 to Julius and Ruth (Potter) Doberstein. After graduating from Medford High School in 1963, he married Carol Gowey and they had five children together. They later divorced. David farmed and built silos for a period of time. He then explored the states as an over-the-road semi driver. He was also the owner of two bars, Teddy Bears Den. For 20 plus years before finally retiring he owned Doberstein Fireworks.

David loved to hunt and fish, and if you ever heard one of his stories you heard it a hundred times. He is survived by his life partner, Elizabeth Scherfel; his children, Susan (David) Young, Brian (Michele) Doberstein, Stephanie (Brian) Nicks, and Karen Linsdau; grandchildren, Derick (Laura) Doberstein, Joseph Gebert, Cathrina (Darrin) Dunham, Megan (Lineker) Nicks, Samantha (Matthew) Smith, Makayla (Megan) Crow, Joshua Doberstein, Cassandra (Ethan) Nicks, and Alexander Haizel; step-grandchildren, Nick and Jeremy Dubois; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, four siblings, a son-in-law, and daughter, Kathryn Gebert.

A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
