VFW invites community to groundbreaking ceremony for new post

The Medford VFW Post 5729 would like to invite members, auxiliary, all veterans, donors, and the general public to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new VFW clubhouse on Monday, April 14. Social hour begins at 5 pm, and the ceremony starts at 6 pm.
“Veterans of World War 2 built our current building, and since then, every veteran of every conflict, peacekeeping mission, peacetime service, support effort, and every military branch has passed through our doors to find the camaraderie and familiarity they have missed after military service,” said Jeff Hein on behalf of the building committee.
For the past 75+ years, the community has created memories from holiday celebrations, weddings, parties, and other events that were held in the VFW. Our Auxiliary and volunteers have served and delivered soup lunches for decades. Fundraisers for every conceivable cause have been held at the post with many thousands of dollars raised and returned to the community.
“As time inevitably marches on, the torch has been passed from our founding members through several generations of veterans, and now we look forward to re-energizing the post and renewing its promise to our veterans and the community. A larger, handicap accessible, modern facility will allow us to do more, and we are so grateful for the support we continue to receive every day,” Hein said.
“On Monday, April 14th, at 5 pm, come celebrate our groundbreaking with us, as we respect the past, and look to the future,” he said.
