The Medford Area Senior High ….


The Medford Area Senior High School drama department will be presenting the Tony Award winning Broadway musical Hadestown. The show opens Wednesday April 9 with performances on April 10 and 11 in the Red/White Theater at the high school. All performances start at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Medford Area Senior High School during regular business hours (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.). Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The play is a modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus played b y Christian Mahner and Eurydice played by Symarra Michlig. Orpheus travels into the underworld controlled by Hades played by Samson Whetstone and his wife Persephone played by Hailey Murray to rescue Eurydice and in the process attempt to restore balance to the seasons. Along the way he must attempt to overcome self doubt learning from Hermes played by Makenna Wellman, “The meanest dog you’ll ever meet, it ain’t the hound dog in the street. He bares some teeth he tears some skin but brother that’s the worst of him. No the dog you really gotta dread is the one that howls inside your head, it’s him whose howling drives men mad and a mind to its undoing.”
The Fates played by Lana Goessl, Ellyanne Manecke and Alexandra Paff also hep sow the seeds of self doubt.
Workers in Hadestown are played by Ella Ackerman, Amy Espinoza, Darcy Heser, Isabel Mathews and Samantha Wagner.
Members of the crew are Sophie Briese, Katie Dassow, Tabitha Kuenne, Karsten Olson and Aubrey Schienoha.
