R EPORTS Car vs Pedestrian

On March 27, at 5:18 p.m., pedestrian Cathy Kapfhamer, 67, of Medford, was walking near the southeast corner of North Second Street and East Allman St. intersection in the city of Medford. Kapfhamer approached the intersection and crossed N. Second Street in a westbound direction by walking within the crosswalk. A vehicle operated by Melvin Mendoza Amador, 24, of Medford, was traveling westbound on E. Allman St. Mendoza Amador made a left turn at approximately 25 mph to continue southbound on N. Second St. while Kapfhamer was crossing the crosswalk. Mendoza Amador struck the pedestrian with the front driver’s side corner of the vehicle. According to the crash report, witnesses reported hearing a loud “thud” when Kapfhamer struck the vehicle. Mendoza Amador was issued citations for operating without a valid license and reckless driving - cause bodily harm. Kapfhamer was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected minor injuries. The Mendoza Amador vehicle sustained functional damage.

One vehicle crashes

On March 27, at 6:43 a.m., a vehicle operated by Leann Coleman, 46, of Rib Lake, was traveling north on CTH C approximately .25 miles south of CTH M in the town of Goodrich. The vehicle went into the east side ditch, striking a tree with the front passenger side. The vehicle came to rest in the east side ditch. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

On March 23, at 5:40 p.m., a vehicle operated by Mahryah Lea Read, 42, of Eau Claire, was traveling westbound on CTH M in the town of Medford and lost control due to road conditions. The vehicle then entered the south ditch of CTH M and struck a No Passing sign. The driver and passenger were uninjured and the vehicle received minor damage.

On March 23, at 11:20 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jorgia Cooley, 18, of Medford, was traveling westbound on CTH O in the town of Browning, when the vehicle lost traction and began to fishtail due to the snow and slush covered road. The vehicle entered the north ditch and struck a fence post before coming to rest. The vehicle was towed with functional damage.

On March 22, at 10 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jeffrey Borman, 29, of Rib Lake, was traveling eastbound on CTH M and crashed into the south ditch of CTH M in the town of Greenwood, causing the vehicle to roll over. According to the crash report, the driver of the vehicle advised they could not remember how they crashed. Borman was cited for operating while under the influence. His vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Deer related crashes

On March 24, at 9:09 p.m., a vehicle operated by Leah Wulff, 21, of Withee, struck a deer while traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Medford. The vehicle received functional damage.

Two vehicle crash

On March 31, at 1:14 p.m., Medford police responded to a two vehicle crash that occurred in the parking lot of 120 W. Broadway Ave. (Hwy 64) in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by Sara Matyka, 51, of Rib Lake was backing out a parking space. A vehicle operated by Sherry Dauksza, 54, of Medford, was entering the parking lot when the Matyka vehicle backed into the rear of the Dauksza vehicle.
