R EPORTS Two vehicle crashes

On March 5, at 8:28 a.m., a vehicle operated by Kevin Waldhart, 46, of Merrill, was traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Medford, when it struck an LP delivery truck operated by Heriberto Medina, 52, of Waukegan, Ill. traveling southbound on Crane Dr. The Waldhart vehicle came to rest in the north ditch facing west. The Medina vehicle came to rest at a slight angle facing east on Hwy 64. According to the crash report, Waldhart stated that he observed Medina sliding through the stop sign and was unable to avoid striking Medina’s vehicle due to the weather and icy road conditions. Medina stated that he saw the stop sign ahead and began braking but slid out onto Hwy 64 where he was struck by Waldhart’s vehicle. Medina was cited for operating too fast for conditions. The Waldhart vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. The truck received minor damage.

On March 13, at 9:25 a.m., a vehicle operated by Michael Jones, 44, of Waldo, was traveling northbound in the left lane of Hwy 13 in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by Cindy Evers, 45, of Medford, was traveling northbound in the right lane. According to the crash report, Jones stated that Evers turned into his vehicle. Evers initially stated she was not sure what happened, the driver of the Evers vehicle admitted she likely turned into the Jones vehicle as she was trying to change lanes. A witness of the accident stated that the Evers vehicle turned into Jones without looking for a vehicle. The Jones vehicle sustained minor damage. The Evers vehicle sustained functional damage. Evers was cited for unsafe lane deviation.

On March 5, at 4:09 p.m., a vehicle operated by Allison Sromek, 18, of Medford, was traveling westbound on CTH O in the town of Medford at approximately 30 mph when the vehicle began to fishtail due to the icy road conditions. A vehicle operated by Wyatt Wulff, 19, of Owen, was traveling westbound on CTH O at approximately 40 mph when it observed the Sromek vehicle begin to slide. According to the crash report, Wulff applied the brakes and slid into Sromek striking the vehicle in the back causing front end damage to the vehicle and rear end damage to the Sromek vehicle. The Wulff vehicle was towed due to disabling damage, while the Sromek vehicle sustained functional damage.

One vehicle crash

On March 4, at 11:39 p.m. the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle crash on Correction Lane in the town of Medford. According to the crash report, a vehicle operated by Gerald Turner, 38, of Medford, was traveling westbound on Correction Lane. Due to the snowy conditions and the snow covered road, Turner ran off the road and entered the ditch. The side curtain airbags deployed, but no other damage was observed while still in the ditch. The vehicle was removed from the ditch at a later date.

Deer related crashes

On March 4, at 6:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by Megan Fredrikson, 21, of Medford, struck a deer while southbound on CTH Q in the town of Medford. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On March 2, at 5:12 p.m., a vehicle operated by Joseph Klade, 20, of Merrill, struck a deer while westbound on CTH M in the town of Greenwood. The vehicle sustained functional damage.
