Zenia Bohl

1939-2025
Zenia passed away March 9, 2025 while at Our House Senior Living, Medford, where she was recovering and working on rehab therapy after a stroke on Jan. 10. Zenia was 85. Surviving Zenia is her husband, Dennis L. Bohl of Athens. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this Sept. 10. Zenia was born in Chicago, Ill., to parents MaryandHenryBronowiczwhomigratedfromPoland. She graduated high school from Bronson, Mich., as a senior class officer in 1957. In 1958, she traveled to Athens with her father to buy the Bronowicz farm. In 1959, her mother, brothers, Hank, Edwin, and sister, Irene arrived at the farm located about a mile south of Pioneer Bar, owned by Dennis’s family. The story is that Dennis first saw her working in the field on the Bronowicz farm, they dated and eventually married in 1960 and the Bohl family began!
Zenia cherished her family. She was an excellent seamstress, exterior and interior painter and wood stainer. She enjoyed working outside mowing the lawn, and keeping her flower beds flourishing. When the kids were young, she grew a huge garden, and raised strawberries and raspberries. She worked as a waitress at Skylight Supper Club during the late 1970s and later at Schaetzl Oil Company in Athens. Having her own motorcycle for years, she also enjoyed traveling to her son, Steve, and her brother, Hank’s motocross events. She was an avid Elvis and Neil Diamond fan. She loved to watch the Packers and enjoyed word search puzzles. She had a great sense of humor. Zenia loved a tasty Southern Comfort old fashioned once in a while, and certainly would not turn down any chocolates or cool whip!
Surviving children include daughters, Wanda (James) Norge, Lorene (Thomas) Mueller, Tracy (Dale) Westfall, Georgine Bohl (Gary) Albrecht; and son, Steven (Jessica) Bohl. Also surviving are two grandsons, Tanner Westfall, Marcus Bohl; several step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Zenia is also survived by her younger brother, Hank (Jane) Bronowicz, Athens; and sister, Irene Busler, Sackets Harbor, N.Y.
Preceding her in death are her parents; daughter, Mary; her youngest brother, Edwin; grandson, Tucker Westfall; niece, Kristle Snyder; and several sisters-inlaw and brothers-in-law.
An interesting note is that her mother, Mary Bronowicz, passed away on the same date at 90 years of age on March 9, 1993.
An informal celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, March 15 at The Milkhaus (3rd Driveway) on Miltrim Farms, 115315 Township Road, Athens, Wisc. Visitation starting a 10 a.m. with lunch planned at 11:30 a.m. The family will be available until 2 p.m.
