R EPORTS Two vehicle crashes

On February 27, at 12:27 a.m., Medford police responded to a two vehicle collision at 135 S. Gibson St. in the city of Medford. According to the crash report, a vehicle operated by Samuel Petrie, 34, of Abbotsford, backed into a vehicle operated by Mandy Renteria, 41, of Medford, which was parked and unoccupied in the parking lot of Aspirus Medford. Petrie indicated that his vehicle had no damage. The responding officer observed two scratches to unit two that appeared to be fresh. Photos were taken of the possible damage and shown to Mandy. She indicated that she was borrowing the vehicle from her sister and did not know of any prior damage/scratches to the vehicle. An inquiry was conducted on the parties involved and the vehicles. All returned valid.

On February 24, at 5:07 p.m., a vehicle operated by Diana Silva Diaz, 16, of Medford, was traveling east on Broadway Ave. in the city of Medford, attempting to turn north onto N. 7th St. A vehicle operated by Kevin Meyer, 59, of Medford, was traveling westbound on Broadway Ave. According to the crash report, Meyer passed on the right side of several stopped vehicles and struck the Silva Diaz vehicle while it was crossing the westbound lane. Both vehicles stopped and came to a rest on the east side of N. 7th St. The Silva Diaz vehicle sustained functional damage. The Meyer vehicle also received functional damage. Meyer was cited for passing at an intersection.

On February 24, at 1:25 p.m., a vehicle operated by Adrian Weaver, 19, of Greenwood, was southbound on Fourth Street in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by Ana Bernal Sanchez, 34, of Medford, was in the process of completing a Y-turn for a driver’s test. Bernal Sanchez did not see the Weaver vehicle traveling southbound and began to pull forward striking the driver side rear of the Weaver vehicle as it was going past. Both vehicles came to stop facing southbound near the intersection of Clark St. and Fourth St. Both vehicles received minor damage.

One vehicle crashes

On February 26, at 6:28 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jairo Rameriz Valdivia, 22, of Withee, was westbound on CTH T in the town of Maplehurst. The vehicle traveled across the ice covered bridge and started to spin. The driver could not correct the vehicle and hit the guard rail on the eastbound lane and came to rest. The driver was cited for operating without a valid license and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. The road was closed until 8 a.m. when the vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

On February 26, at an unknown time, a vehicle operated by Phillip Franzen, 25, of Sheldon, was driving northbound on Hwy 73 in the town of Jump River when it came across a westbound curve in the roadway. The driver attempted to negotiate the curve but hit a patch of ice and failed to do so. The vehicle ended up driving straight into the ditch causing disabling damage to the entirety of the vehicle.

On February 23, at 5:15 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jacob Moss, 15, of Wausau, was driving eastbound on Beaver Creek Road in the town of Grover. The vehicle started sliding sideways due to snow covered roadways around the corner. The driver attempted to correct the vehicle and entered the ditch. The vehicle struck a tree after entering the ditch. The vehicle was towed from the ditch and received functional damage.

Hit and run

On February 16, at 2:39 p.m., Taylor County sheriff’s office received a report of a hit and run crash on Timber Dr. in the town of Greenwood. According to the crash report, a vehicle operated by Lonnie Noland, 27, of Medford, was traveling northbound on Timber Dr. when the vehicle spun out on the snow covered/icy road and struck a mailbox on the east side of the road causing damage near N6959 Timber Dr. Noland was cited for hit and run of property adjacent to highway, failure of operator to notify police of an accident, and driving too fast for conditions.

On February 23, at 12:12 p.m., Medford police responded to a hit and run crash at 149 S. Whelen Ave. A vehicle operated by Jamie Sonnentag, 46, of Medford, was parked and unoccupied during the overnight hours from February 22 to February 23 with on-street parking near 148 S. Whelen Ave. During that time, the vehicle was struck on the rear.

On February 21, at 10:27 a.m., Medford police responded to a hit and run crash at 1010 N. 8th St. (Hwy 13) in Medford. A vehicle operated by Margaret Borman, 72, of Medford, was parked and unoccupied in the Walmart parking lot. While parked, the right front corner of the vehicle was damaged. The damage was consistent with being struck by another vehicle.

On February 20, at 3:42 p.m., Medford police responded to a hit and run crash at 940 S. Whelen Ave. in Medford. A vehicle operated by Joseph Serrano, 25, of Dorchester, was parked in the Nestle parking lot. The owner reported to police that his car was struck by another vehicle.


On February 20, at 5:57 p.m., a vehicle operated by Alexis Steger, 22, of Stetsonville, was traveling northbound on Badger Ave./Gibson Dr. and a vehicle operated by Santos Canales Melgara, 39, of Dorchester, was eastbound on County Line Rd. The Canales Melgara vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Gibson Dr. and County Line Rd. continuing through the intersection and striking the back driver side of the Steger vehicle. The Canales Melgara vehicle continued eastbound and ended up in the north east ditch of the intersection of Gibson Dr. and County Line Road. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. The Steger vehicle continued northbound on Gibson Dr. coming to a stop on the east shoulder of Gibson Drive. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Canales Melgara was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and operating without a valid license. TAYLOR COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
