Rib Lake School Board begins awarding bids for referendum work
With work set to begin this spring on referendum-funded Rib Lake High School and Middle School projects, school board members held a special meeting last week to approve the first set of project bids.
On February 12, board members reviewed the recommendations from JH Findorff and Son on the bids, all of which were the lowest qualified bidders for those contract areas.
As is common with a project the size and scope of the school renovation and expansion, the bids were divided up into a number of packages with contractors invited to tour the school, view the bid documents and submit bids. While there were in some cases a number of qualified firms who received the bid packages, at times only a much smaller handful of applicants actually submitted bids.
In addition to serving as the general contractor on the overall project, Findorff was able to put in bids on portions of the project work itself. Findorff chose to submit bids on three of the packages including the demolition, concrete work, and masonry and was the low bidder received on all of those packages which total $2.78 million.
Board members awarded those bids to Findorff.
