Mr. L. A. Burbey was down from Chelsea the first of the week greeting old friends and hobnobbing with county-seat politicians. Mr. Burbey says he will be a candidate for sheriff before the democratic county convention next fall.

February 12, 1925 Rudolph Service Station Robbed Wed. Night 100

Years Ago

The Rudolph Filling Station on Highway 13 was entered and robbed last Wednesday night and $8.00 in cash was taken from the cash register. The station was entered through the front door, which was opened with a skeleton key.

February 16, 1950 Tuesday’s Blizzard Blocks Highways 75

Years Ago A portion of the blizzard that struck hard in the southern part of the state Monday hit Taylor county that night and Tuesday blocking the town roads and piling drifts on the state and county highways that kept the count snow plowing equipment working at a steady pace to keep them open.

The wind blew in the open area most of Monday, continuing through the night and until Tuesday afternoon. Snow began to fall late Monday night and did not stop until about noon on the following day.

Years Ago Redmen Drop Marawood Tilt To Spencer Rib Lake fell behind in the third quarter in the Marawood game at Spencer Friday night, the Rockets pulling off a 64-65 win. In other Marawood action, Marathon clinched no worse than a share for a second straight conference title by downing Auburndale 67-39. Stratford won over Pittsville 56-46, Abbotsford beat Edgar 79-48 and Nekoosa downed Athens 50-36.

It is expected that approximately 115 students from the Gilman, Rib Lake, and Medford School Districts will be taking part in this year’s Medford Youth Opportunity Day scheduled for February 23. Youth Opportunity Day was the result of the Medford Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee initiating an annual vocational event that would be specifically designed for non-college bound juniors and seniors from area high schools.
