CRASH
On January 25, at 2:11 p.m., a vehicle operated by Seth Williams, 16, of Medford, was northbound on CTH C in the town of Deer Creek when it lost control in a patch of blowing snow/ice and struck a vehicle operated by Leon Hraby, 68, of Medford, with the passenger side. Hraby was southbound on CTH C and slowing to a stop when it was struck by Williams. Williams was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected serious injuries as was passenger Hayden Gilge, 16, of Medford. Passenger Mason Moore, 16, of Medford, was transported by ambulance with a suspected minor injury. Hraby was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected serious injuries. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. R EPORTS One vehicle crash

On January 27, at 1:14 p.m., a vehicle operated by John Allingham, 20, of Eau Claire, was traveling east on Rustic Road in the town of Rib Lake when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, entered the ditch and struck a tree. All three occupants were not injured and were wearing their seat belts. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Two vehicle crashes

On January 30, at 3 p.m., a vehicle operated by Matthew Seipel, 44, of Westboro, was eastbound on Hwy 102 and was making a left hand turn onto Kennedy St. in the village of Rib Lake. A vehicle operated by Julie Erickson, 53, of Rib Lake, was stopped at the stop sign and the driver did not see Seipel and began a left hand turn onto Hwy 102, failing to yield the right of way, and collided with Seipel’s vehicle. The Erickson vehicle sustained minor damage and the Seipel vehicle sustained functional damage.

On January 31, at 12:34 p.m., a vehicle operated by Bruce Fuchs, 69, of Medford, was parked and unoccupied at 403 S. 8th St. in the city of Medford. According to the crash report, Mark Lew, 69, of Medford, stated that during a backing maneuver in the parking lot, he struck the Fuchs vehicle.

Car vs. Deer

On January 30, at 5:45 a.m., a vehicle operated by Susan Tester, 61, of Sheldon, struck a deer while traveling southbound on Hwy 73 in the town of Cleveland. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On January 24, at 5:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by George Mathews, 43, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling westbound on CTH M in the town of Chelsea. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

On January 24, at 7:45 a.m., a vehicle operated by Randi Bondioli, 43, of Merrill, struck a deer while westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Goodrich. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

On January 25, at 5:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by Isaiah Kalmon, 25, of Withee, struck a deer while westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel.


On January 19, at 12:50 a.m., a vehicle operated by Kaedyn Kopelke, 18, of Ogema, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13 and did not see vehicles operated by Becky Weir, 53, of Medford, or David Lunsman, 48, of Medford, on the roadway. Lunsman was pulling Weir out of the ditch from a previous incident. The Kopelke vehicle continued northbound and drove on the east shoulder of Hwy 13 where it struck the front right side bumper of the Lunsman vehicle. The Koepelke vehicle then struck the rear of the Weir vehicle and came to rest in the middle of the roadway facing east. The Weir vehicle came to rest in the east side ditch while the Lunsman vehicle remained on the east shoulder of Hwy 13. Weir was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics with suspected serious injuries. The crash resulted in the highway being closed for just over an hour reopening at 1:54 a.m. Kopelke was cited for operating while under the influence and causing injury while operating under the influence (1st).
