Edith (Edie) Mittelstadt, age 78, of Menomonie, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025 at Comforts of Home Memory Care. She was born Nov. 29, 1946, in Medford to Roger and Marguerite (Benn) Putnam. She graduated from Medford High School in 1965 and attended UW Stevens Point. She lived in New York City, N.Y. and St. Paul, Minn., while working for Republic Airlines.

Edie married Duane Mittelstadt on Oct. 20, 1973. She worked for Higgins Travel, Sunshine Travel and Carlson Travel. Edie was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and very involved with the crafter group and circles. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She loved to cross stitch with many pieces of artwork still in her family members’ homes. She enjoyed traveling, some destinations: Japan, Germany, Panama Canal, Niagara Falls, Jamacia, Alaska, and many winters to Arizona.

Edie is survived by son, David Mittelstadt of Menomonie; stepdaughters, Beth (Terry) Ford of Menomonie, Kay (Marty) Strauss of Cottage Grove, Minn.; grandchildren, Alec (Gillian) Strauss of Menomonie, Jennifer Strauss of Kirksville, Mo.; brother, Russ (Nancy) Putnam of Fort Myers, Fla.; nephew, Andrew Putnam of Lexington, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; parents, Roger and Marguerite Putnam; mother and father-in-law, Ernest and Gladys Mittelstadt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor August Hohl officiating. Visitation was from 4–7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisc.
