On December 28, at 9:30 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jaiden Forrest, 16, of Brookfield, was southbound on Highland Dr. in the town of Chelsea, and according to the crash report, the operator advised they swerved for a deer in the roadway and lost control, skidding into the east ditch, striking a Taylor Electric Cooperative utility pole and coming to rest facing a northwesterly direction. On December 28, at 9:30 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jaiden Forrest, 16, of Brookfield, was southbound on Highland Dr. in the town of Chelsea, and according to the crash report, the operator advised they swerved for a deer in the roadway and lost control, skidding into the east ditch, striking a Taylor Electric Cooperative utility pole and coming to rest facing a northwesterly direction. R EPORTS Two vehicle crashes

On January 7, at 3:44 p.m., vehicles operated by Robert Fitzgerald, 68, of Medford, and Rhys Buskerud, 16, of Medford, were traveling eastbound on Brucker St. in the city of Medford. The Fitzgerald vehicle slowed to a stop due to a vehicle in front slowing or stopping. The Buskerud vehicle struck the open tailgate of the Fitzgerald vehicle. According to the crash report, Fitzgerald advised law enforcement that he was slowing to a stop due to vehicle congestion in front when he was struck by a vehicle behind. Buskerud told law enforcement that he was paying attention to the vehicle that was operating closely behind him and did not observe the Fitzgerald vehicle come to a stop and advised that he was unable to stop in time from striking the Fitzgerald vehicle. Both vehicles sustained functional damage.

On January 2, 1:59 p.m., vehicles operated by Susan Rust, 66, of Medford, and Patricia Mertens, 90, of Medford, were traveling southbound on Eighth St. (Hwy 13) in the city of Medford at the intersection with Broadway Ave. (Hwy 64). Mertens was in the left lane and Rust was in the right lane. Mertens turned into the right lane, striking the Rust vehicle and causing minor damage.

On December 24, at 9:27 p.m., Medford police responded to a two vehicle crash on N. Eighth St. (Hwy 13) in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by Jacob Mueller, 30, of Medford, was traveling westbound on E. Allman St. The vehicle made a wide right turn to turn northbound onto N. Eighth St. (Hwy 13), possibly sliding on ice. The turn was overcorrected and the vehicle turned westbound over the median. The Mueller vehicle struck a vehicle being driven by Carrie Ewan, 53, of Medford, in a southbound direction. The Ewan vehicle was traveling in the innermost southbound lane, but was pushed into the outermost southbound when it was struck. Mueller’s vehicle turned around and continued northbound in the northbound lane. The vehicle was later found and Mueller was arrest for OWI-1st. Mueller received citations for hit and run and operating while under the influence. The Ewan vehicle was towed with functional damage.

On December 21, at 2:38 p.m., a vehicle operated by David Zuleger, 71, of Medford,

was southbound on Hillcrest Rd. in the town of Chelsea. According to the crash report, Zuleger stated he stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with CTH M and looked both ways and then proceeded through the intersection and struck a vehicle operated by Justin Sigmund, 31, of Medford, on the left front door. Both vehicles sustained functional damage. Zuleger received a citation for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign. Sigmund received a citation for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

On December 18, at 9 p.m., a vehicle operated by Brian Cadwell, 52, of Woodbury, Minn., was parked in the middle of the road at the dead end of Taylor Street in the village of Lublin. A vehicle operated by Rocky Olsen, 46, of Lublin approached driving southbound and then stopped when it came across the Cadwell vehicle. The Cadwell vehicle then proceeded around the Olsen vehicle and then veered into the rear end of the Olsen vehicle and then continued into the ditch striking several trees. The Olsen vehicle received minor damage and the Cadwell vehicle received functional damage and was towed from the scene. Cadwell was cited for operating while under the influence.

Hit and Run

On December 29, at 7:34 p.m., a vehicle operated by Hailey Strama, was unoccupied and legally parked in a parking lot at 1037 W. Broadway Ave. A second vehicle, a pickup truck with unknown plate number and driver, backed into the front driver’s side corner of the parked vehicle. This caused the vehicle to move slightly from its original parked position. The driver of the second vehicle did not make any attempts to notify the owner of the parked vehicle about the damage before driving away from the scene.

Car versus deer

On January 9, at 5:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jackie Lewallen-Brovan, 55, of Sheldon, struck a deer while traveling northbound on CTH H in the town of Aurora and sustained minor damage.

On January 7, at 5:15 p.m., a vehicle operated by Kathryn Balash, 32, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling westbound on CTH M in the town of Chelsea and sustained functional damage.

On January 6, at 5:48 p.m., a vehicle operated by Kendra Hahn, 29, of Phillips, struck a deer while traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Medford, and sustained disabling damage.

On January 6, at 5:20 p.m., a vehicle operated by Timothy Schmidt, 40, of Athens, struck a deer while traveling westbound on CTH A in the town of Deer Creek. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

On December 31, at 5:10 p.m., a vehicle operated by Deborah Ruppel, 56, of Rib Lake, struck a deer while traveling northbound on Hwy 97 in the town of Goodrich. The vehicle was towed with disabling damage.

On December 30, at 4:17 a.m., a vehicle operated by Joel Sosa Camacho, 38, of Rib Lake, struck a deer while traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Medford. The vehicle received functional damage.
