freestyle at 30.78 seconds and third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:18.25. She was on the third-place team in the 200-yard medley relay, which finished in 2:15.98 behind two other Morris teams that had times of 2:04.95 and 2:13.53.

The Cougars, who are 2-4, will return from a long break on Jan. 17 when they host Hamline.

Connor Lingen, a 2024 Medford graduate, competed in four tournaments during the fall portion of the UW-Stout men’s golf team’s 2024-25 season.

His best scores came during the Sept. 20-21 Midwest Region Classic, hosted by Benedictine at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, Wis. Lingen was part of an eight-way tie for 17th place out of 244 golfers with a two-day score of 145. He shot a 3-over-par 75 on day one and then cut that to a 2 under-par 70 on day two. He golfed with Stout’s B team which tied for 10th place out of 44 teams with a score of 588 or 12-overpar. The Blue Devils’ A team was eighth at 584. He got an eagle in each round. On Friday, he got a three on the par-5, 501-yard 16th hole, then on Saturday he got a three on the par-5, 476yard 10th.

Lingen’s first collegiate meet Aug. 3031 went well. In the Culver’s Edgewood College Fall Classic at Glen Erin Golf Club in Janesville, Lingen shot rounds of 73 and 74 on the par-71 course and tied for 17th individually out of 120 golfers. He was on the B team, which took second with a score of 581, eight strokes behind the team champion, Stout’s A team.

Lingen shot an 80 on day one of the Sept. 29-30 UW-Stout Invite, held at Highlands Course Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva. He reduced that to a 1-overpar 71 on day two to tie for 47th overall out of 124 golfers with a two-day total of 152. He again golfed for Stout’s B team, which placed 11th with a team score of 596. The A team was third at 583 behind Aurora University (575) and UW-Eau Claire (576).

Lingen carded scores of 84 and 80 for a 164 at UW-Eau Claire’s Wrigglesworth Invite Sept. 15-16 held at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club. He tied for 70th out of 104 golfers on the par-71 course. Stout’s B team was 11th with a team score of 633, while the A team tied UW-Superior for sixth at 624. Nebraska Wesleyan won the meet at 590.

SilasWipf, a 2023Medford graduate, was one of many freshman on the inaugural UW-Stout men’s soccer team, which went 2-16-1 overall and 0-5 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Blue Devils beat Northland College 3-1 on Sept. 4 in their third game of the season for their first-ever win and they were 1-0 winners at Minnesota-Morris on Sept. 15.

Team statistics show Wipf appeared in six games and logged 82 minutes on the pitch. He’s listed as midfielder. He played nine minutes in the win over Northland. He got a season-high 21 minutes in a 9-0 loss at Edgewood College in Madison Sept. 8.

Sophia Brunner, a 2024 Medford graduate, got into five games as a goalie for the Viterbo University women’s soccer team.

Brunner got her first 32 minutes on the field on Aug. 27 in a 4-0 loss at Clarke University. The Pride scored on the only shot Brunner saw. Four days later, she recorded her first save on the only shot on goal she faced in a 3-1 home win over Bethany Lutheran. She spent 22:25 in net in the win.

In a 4-0 win at UW-Stout on Sept. 21, Brunner got in for the last 4:32 and recorded a save. A week later, she played for 9:16 and got a save in a 4-0 win at Indiana South Bend. The V-Hawks rolled to an 11-0 win a Calumet, Ind. on Oct. 9 and didn’t allow a shot on goal the entire game. Brunner saw 24:07 of time in goal.

The V-Hawks went 8-9-1 overall with a 5-5-1 record in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Their season ended Nov. 6 with a 1-0 loss to St. Ambrose in the CCAC tournament quarterfinal.

Also at Viterbo, 2024 Medford graduate Alexander Gonzalez was on the men’s soccer roster this fall. He did not register any statistics during a season where the V-Hawks went 6-6-4, including a 5-1-4 mark in the CCAC. They were knocked out of the conference tournament in the quarterfinals by Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) 1-0.

Logan Baumgartner, a 2023 Medford graduate, is averaging 9.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for UWStevens Point’s men’s basketball team, which is off to a 9-1 start and was ranked 11th in last week’s D3 hoops.com national poll. Baumgartner has started once and averages 19 minutes per game.

He scored 17 points and had three rebounds and four steals in 25 minutes in the Pointers’ upset of then number-one ranked Trine on Dec. 7. He hit seven of 14 shots from the field in the win. Baumgartner followed that up with 14 points and six rebounds in a 73-36 win over The University of Olivet on Dec. 14.

Baumgartner had 12 points and three rebounds in a 72-47 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Nov. 13 and 11 points and six rebounds in a 6562 win at North Central (Minn.) in Minneapolis on Nov. 22.

The team just played at the Jay Bilas Classic in Charlotte Thursday and Friday. The Pointers beat Christopher Newport University 70-68 and then lost 51-50 to Randolph-Macon College. UW-SP hosts North Park University Monday at 7 p.m. before starting WIAC play at home against UW-Platteville on Jan. 4.

Medford native Sawyer Scholl has a goal and four assists in 17 games played for the Wisconsin Badgers men’s hockey team, which is 7-10-1 and 5-7 in the Big Ten Conference.

Scholl had an assist in the Badgers’ 4-0 win over number-one ranked Michigan State on Dec. 6. He had a goal and two assists in a 5-4 win at Penn State on Nov 15. He also had an assist in the Badgers’ 40 win at Michigan on Dec. 13.

The Badgers play Ferris State Saturday in the first round of the Kwik Trip Holiday Classic Milwaukee. They’ll play UConn or Alaska-Fairbanks Saturday.

Andy Hecker, who played for the Gilman Pirates in the 2019-20 and 202021 basketball seasons, is averaging 9.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in his senior season with the Faith Baptist Bible College mens basketball team. The school is located in Ankeny, Iowa. He has played in all 11 games. The Eagles are 6-5 overall.

Hecker scored a season-high 17 points in the team’s last game, a 100-67 loss to Kuyper, on Dec. 13. He had 14 points in the game before that, a 90-69 loss at Manhattan Christian College on Dec. 7. He’s scored in double figures in six of the team’s last seven games. He’s had six rebounds twice, had three assists in an 8273 loss to Maranatha Baptist University on Nov. 21 and blocked three shots in a 77-52 win over Oak Hills Christian College.

At Oak Hills Christian College, which is in Bemidji, Minn., Bryson Keepers, who played football for Gilman in the 2018-21 seasons, is a starter in his junior season with the men’s basketball team. He’s averaging 4.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. The Wolfpack is 3-9 thus far.

Keepers had eight points and 10 steals in a 90-26 win over Free Lutheran Bible College in the team’s last game Dec. 13. He had a season-high nine points in a 74-59 loss to Calvary Bible on Nov. 22 and tied that in an 82-68 win over Turtle Mountain Community College on Dec. 5. He’s had nine rebounds in two games and eight in another.

Some commitments by this year’s Medford seniors that have been made known so far: Tori Konieczny announced in October she plans to play softball at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Parker Lissner announced in November he plans to play baseball at UW-River Falls.

Last week, Great Northern Conference football Defensive Player of the Year Evan Wilkins announced his intention to join UW-Oshkosh’s football program and GNC Offensive Player of the Year Paxton Rothmeier announced he’s headed to UW-Eau Claire in the fall.
