MEDFORD BOYS SWIMMING - ONE FOR THE WIN COLUMN Swimmers beat Antigo, close vs. Hawks
MEDFORD BOYS SWIMMING
After a near-miss against Shawano-Seymour on Thursday, the Medford Raiders were successful Tuesday in putting a notch in the Great Northern Conference win column when they swam past the host Antigo Red Robins 89-43.
The Raiders got wins in all three relays, got two individual wins from Roger Mann and three more swimmers won an event as the Raiders improved to 1-3 in the GNC heading into a home meet today, Thursday, against Lakeland (0-3), a team that has had only four swimmers available in each of its GNC meets thus far.
The longer distances in Antigo’s metered pool didn’t bother Mann in his victories in the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke. The Raider junior took the freestyle in 1:16.36, while teammate Cale Schulz was second in 1:20.69 and Anthony Seidel got the fifthplace point at 1:41.6. Reese Travis led the way in the 50meter freestyle. The junior won it 33.28 seconds, just ahead of teammate Hudson Briggs (34.52). Aiden Thao took fourth for Medford in 55.91 seconds.
Senior Mason Reimann won the 100meter butterfly in 1:15.9, beating Antigo’s Rutger Busse by 2.59 seconds. Reimann added a second-place finish in the 200meter individual medley at 2:50.38. Busse won that in 2:45.12.
