About 30 area residents braved a cold and blustery day to take part in a community wellness event held Saturday at the Medford City Park. Light The Path: Community Wellness Event was held from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Medford City Park and included booths from community health resources. The event sought to shine a spotlight on the resources available to Medford-area residents with representatives from several agencies present with information. The highlight of the event was a candlelit walk around the Mill Pond where people were invited to take time to relax and enjoy the walk. There were also raffles at the event with proceeds going to Operation Horses Heal. A total of $489 was raised for Operation Horses Heal and 8 totes of clothing was donated for veterans. Rachael Loucks of Operation Horses Heal spoke about the organizationâs mission and how they work to make life better for people in the area.
George Webb, of the âWeight Liftersâ group who organized the first-time event spoke thanking those who came out and participated and he spoke about their efforts to raise awareness of resources available to those in the area. According to Webb, they hope to make it an annual event, but next year will look at having it earlier in the fall. Those participating in the event had pizza provided by NestlĂŠ Pizza company as well as punch and hot cocoa made possible with donations from Walmart and Associated Bank.
