CRASH REPORTS
On November 18 at 7:55 p.m., a vehicle operated by Hannah Dahl, 18, of Medford, was westbound on Hwy 64 in the city of Medford. A vehicle operated by Cassie Jo Wellman, 31, of Medford, was entering Hwy 64 from a driveway to make a left turn and go eastbound. Wellman stated she looked but did not see Dahl’s vehicle prior to entering traffic. The road was closed from the time of the crash to 8:26 a.m. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage. Wellman was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital for suspected minor injury. Dahl’s airbags deployed and according to the crash report she had suspected minor injury, but was not transported. MEDFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Car vs. buggy

On November 4 at 7:45 p.m., a vehicle operated by Kamdyn Thompson, 21, of Gilman, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Aurora, when he approached an Amish buggy from behind. Thompson, activated his brakes, but ended up striking the back of the buggy with his vehicle. When the deputy arrived on the scene, he observed that the buggy did not have a slow moving vehicle sign nor did it have electric lights on it. According to the crash report, when the deputy made contact with the buggy’s owner, Joseph Stutzman, 31, of Gilman, he advised the buggy did not have a slow moving vehicle sign or lights. Both Thompson’s vehicle and the buggy sustained disabling damage. Stutzman was cited for failing to display a required slow moving vehicle emblem.

Two vehicle crashes

On November 16 at 12:16 p.m., vehicles operated by Nichole Hertlein, 42, of Phillips and Felicia Carter, 38, of Medford were backing out of their parking stalls at 1010 N. 8th St. in Medford and backed into each other causing damage to both their vehicles.

On November 17, at 1:09 p.m., Andrew Leonard, 31, of Medford backed out of a driveway into the back of an unoccupied vehicle owned by Steven Byrd, 39, of Medford.

On November 12, at 10:10 a.m., a vehicle operated by Debra Wittchow, 66, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Browning and slowed to begin a right hand turn into the driveway of W3761 Hwy 64. A vehicle operated by Heather Piller, 37, of Medford, was traveling eastbound behind the Wittchow vehicle and according to the crash report told deputies they observed Wittchow’s vehicle slow but did not believe they indicated with their turn signal. Piller advised that she braked but did not brake fast enough due to potential issues with the vehicle’s brakes. She said she swerved to the right to avoid the collision but ended up striking the passenger rear of the the Wittchow vehicle with the driver’s front side. The Piller vehicle sustained functional damage and the Wittchow vehicle sustained minor damage. Piller was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

Car vs. building

On November 5 at 6:41 p.m., a vehicle operated by Candy Cosgrove, 58, of Westboro, attempted to turn the vehicle around in the parking lot attached to N8864 Business Hwy 13 in Westboro. During the turn, the driver attempted to press down on the vehicle’s brake pedal but ended up pressing on the vehicle’s accelerator and ended up striking the building. The crash report notes the driver had blood shot glassy eyes, slurred speech, was uneasy on her feet and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person, but was not investigated for OWI because the incident took place on private property. The vehicle sustained functional damage.

Car vs. Deer

On November 15 at 12:46 a.m., a vehicle operated by Dylan Frisch, 31, of Abbotsford, struck a deer while traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black.

On November 14, at 5:51 p.m., a vehicle operated by Michale Carstensen, 56, of Medford struck a deer while traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel.

On November 13, at 5:10 a.m., a vehicle operated by Jennifer Meyer, 47, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling southbound on CTH Q in the town of Medford.

On November 12, at 5:43 p.m., a vehicle operated by Susan Meyer, 25, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling westbound on CTH M in the town of Chelsea.

On November 11, at 10:44 p.m., a vehicle operated by Weston Writz, 25, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling westbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Goodrich.

On November 11, at 6:32 p.m., a vehicle operated by Mitchel Becker, 36, of Colby, struck a deer while traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black.

On November 11, at 5:39 p.m., a vehicle operated by David Goessl, 78, of Medford, stuck a deer while traveling northbound on CTH E in the town of Medford.

On November 11, at 5:15 p.m., a vehicle operated by Lisa Noland, 61, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling northbound on CTH C in the town of Goodrich.

On November 10 at 3:13 a.m., a Taylor County sheriff’s department vehicle operated by Dalton Krug, 22, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling on Gibson Dr. in the town of Little Black.
