On September 3, at 4:55 a.m., a motorcycle operated by Tyrell Dunn, 40, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Hammel when a deer exited the ditch striking the motorcycle head-on. R EPORTS One vehicle crash

On September 6, at 7:30 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jacob Luther, 21, of Bruce, was traveling westbound on CTH O and drove through the ditch between Hwy 64 and CTH 0. The driver stated he observed an unknown object in the road and instead of swerving, he drove over it and through the ditch. The vehicle received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Luther was cited for operating while under the influence (2nd) and operating while revoked (revoked due to alcohol/controlled substance/refusal).

On September 1, at 2:29 p.m., a vehicle operated by Hudson Briggs, 17, of Medford, was northbound on North Rd. in the town of Grover and began to skid on a curve. The vehicle entered the west ditch, overturned, and came to rest facing southeast on its right side. According to the crash report, the vehicle received functional damage and was towed from the scene. There was a minor passenger, age 13, in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Briggs was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control.

Two vehicle crash

On September 5, at 3:22 p.m. in the city of Medford, a vehicle operated operated by Gatlin Piller, 17, of Medford, struck a vehicle operated by Jaymi Kohn, 62, of Medford, while attempting to park in the courthouse parking lot. Kohn’s vehicle was parked and unoccupied.

On September 4, at 12:25 p.m., vehicles operated by Tammy Voelker, 52, of Abbotsford, and Joshua Bowser, 15, of Owen, were both traveling northbound on Hwy 13 in the city of Medford. Voelker attempted to changed lanes and hit the Bowser vehicle. According to the crash report, Voelker stated she did not see the Bowser vehicle. Minor damage was reported for both vehicles. There was a passenger, Amy Bowser, 46, of Owen, in the Bowser vehicle.

On September 4, at 9:08 a.m., Medford police responded to a two vehicle crash in the roundabout at Allman St. and Hwy 13. According to the crash report, a semi truck and trailer operated by James Neubauer, 58, of Unity, was traveling northbound on Hwy 13, and entered the roundabout. A vehicle operated by Betty Danen, 70, of Medford, was traveling eastbound on Allman Ave. and entered the roundabout. The Neubauer vehicle was in the right lane and the Danen vehicle was in the left lane. The Neaubauer vehicle was making a wide turn to turn west on Allman Ave. The trailer of the Neaubauer vehicle struck the side of the Danen vehicle. According to the crash report, Neubauer stated Danen drove up the side of his trailer while he was attempting to make the turn. Danen stated that Neubauer did not use his turn signal.

Car vs. Deer

On September 5, at 6:15 a.m. a vehicle operated by Jerilyn Taylor, 41, of Rib Lake, struck a deer while southbound on Hwy 102 in the town of Rib Lake. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

On September 5, at 4:42 a.m., a vehicle operated by Lucia Marshall, 25, of Stetsonville, struck a deer while westbound on CTH A in the town of Little Black. There was functional damage to the vehicle.

On September 4, at 7:31 a.m., a vehicle operated by Craig Malzahn, 41, of Merrill, struck a deer while driving eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Browning. The vehicle received minor damage.

On September 3, at 6:18 a.m., a vehicle operated by William Doberstein, 60, of Medford, struck a deer while driving southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black. The vehicle received functional damage.


On August 28, at 8 a.m., a vehicle owned by Tiffany Poncek, 35, of Ogema, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea. A pickup truck pulling a recreational vehicle operated by Michael Purdy, 48, of Medford, was traveling northbound. The Poncek vehicle crossed the centerline traveling into the northbound lane. Purdy swerved onto the shoulder to avoid collision. The Poncek vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of the Purdy vehicle, then the front driver’s side corner of the recreational unit Purdy was hauling. Both axles of the RV were detached from the RV as a result of the crash. The Poncek vehicle spun, facing northbound and came to rest. Poncek was trapped in the vehicle and was extracted by firefighters from the Medford Area Fire Department and was later transported by helicopter to Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Both the Poncek vehicle and the RV were removed by Krug’s Towing. Poncek was cited for operating left of center and failure of the operator to wear a seatbelt.
