Florina J. Jochimsen, 94, of the township of Little Black, passed away on Thursday, Aug., 29, 2024 at her home, surrounded by family, under the care of Hope Hospice.
A memorial mass for Florina will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 4 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Catholic prayer service following. Visitation will continue on Friday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Florina was born on July 2, 1930 to Thomas and Louise (Kellnhofer) Boehlen in the town of Little Black. She graduated high school in 1948 and married Wyllis Jochimsen on May 24, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville. They farmed in the Town of Little Black and were members of the NFO. In addition to farming, in 1976, two years after the Stetsonville Centennial, Florina worked in the kitchen at Stetsonville Centennial Hall as a cook for many years. In 1984, Florina cooked at the Medford Middle School for 15 years, and then worked at the Senior Center in Medford for 10 years before retiring at the age of 80. Florina was a member of the Altar Society and Lady Foresters at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville where she also sang in the choir and taught CCD for many years.
Florina enjoyed traveling, reading, bowling, playing cards, knitting booties and mittens, calling BINGO and telling jokes at the Senior Center, and embroidery. Florina embroidered many table cloths, dresser scarves, and pillow cases for her children, grandchildren, and for raffle donations. Most of all, Florina enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Florina is survived by her children, Karleen (Ron) Sperl of Medford, Lynn (Dianne) Jochimsen of Medford, Sherry (Chuck) Anderson of Stetsonville, Kurt (Pam) Jochimsen of Stratford, Roy (Kathy) Jochimsen of Withee, Bryan (Melinda) Jochimsen of Medford, Sara (Gary) Krug of Rice Lake, Jay (Jen) Jochimsen of Medford, Penny (Guy) Olson of Medford; 35 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and one great-great-grandchild, and two on the way. Florina is further survived by two sisters, Orvilla Reese and Frances (Robert) Reissman; sister-in-law, Katherine Boehlen; brother-in-law, Willard (Pat) Jochimsen; and many other family and friends.
Florina was preceded in death by her husband, Wyllis; daughters, Gail and Beth Jochimsen; greatgrandson, Deagan Jochimsen; brother, John Boehlen and sister, Germaine Wimmer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the family for a future designation.
