David R. Cunningham

1943-2024

David R. Cunningham, 81, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 at his home. He was born on Aug. 17, 1943 in Harvard, Ill., to the late LaVerne and Hazel (Welch) Cunningham. Dave grew up in Walworth, attending school at Bigfoot. He followed his brother La Verne “Up North” to the Jump River area where he met Geraldine Wisniewski. They married on Sept. 10, 1977 and had three daughters together, Karrie, Kelly and Kristy. The couple later divorced but remained close friends.

Throughout his life David had a passion for farming, from working in the fields to milking cows. He enjoyed helping his friends with anything needed. When not spending time with his family you could find him at the local restaurant telling stories. Dave lived life to the fullest and made the most of every day.

He is survived by his three daughters, Karrie (Seth) Morris of Eau Claire, Kelly (Scott) Sorenson of Chippewa Falls and Kristy (Seth) Anderson of Thorp; four grandchildren, Eastin and Kason Sorenson and Rylee and Jackson Anderson; his brothers, William “Bill”, Kenneth “Red” and Jack (Sandy) Cunningham; and his sister, Linda Adkins. He is further survived by many family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, LaVerne, Lawrence, Delbert and Frank Cunningham; sisters, Mary Zemblowski, Joanne Brown and Betty Nichols; a nephew, Blake Wisniewski; his father-in-law, Leonard Wisniewski; and a dear friend, Jim Schley.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. with a service at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024 at the Gilman Funeral Home with Randy Vandeloo officiating. Inurnment will follow in Meadowbrook Catholic Cemetery-Gilman. “Last coffee clutch for Dave” will be held at Celebrations Hall following burial from 5-7 p.m.
