R EPORTS One vehicle crashes

On August 24, at 7 p.m., a vehicle operated by Josue Ramirez, 26, of Athens, was traveling southbound on CTH E in the town of Holway, when it left it left the road and entered the west ditch and stuck a culvert/driveway embankment to N1107 CTH E. The vehicle collided with the embankment causing it to overturn before coming to a rest on its wheels facing a northerly direction. Ramirez was trapped in the vehicle and needed to be extricated. He was transported with suspected serious injuries by EMS air to Marshfield Medical Center - Marshfield. Ramirez was cited for operating while under the influence (2nd), failure to keep vehicle under control, and operating while revoked (revoked due to alcohol/controlled substance/refusal).

On August 10, at 7:55 p.m., a vehicle operated by Jamie Hamilton, 38, of Ladysmith, was driving west on CTH F in the town of Taft when a deer appeared on the roadway from the south ditch. Hamilton swerved right to avoid the deer and ended up driving into the ditch. According to the report, he hit the accelerator and not the brakes driving farther into the ditch and eventually into the brush. It was noted by the deputy in the report that Hamilton did not appear to be intoxicated.

Two vehicle crashes

On August 17, at 2:41 p.m., a John Deere 5115M tractor operated by Philip Jazdzewski, 54, of Gilman, was traveling northbound on Hwy 73 in the town of Ford, pulling equipment (John Deere MOCO 926) when a vehicle operated by Tannyn Burmeister, 22, of Sheldon, struck the equipment being hauled, damaging it. The Jazdzewski vehicle had caution lighting activated and slow moving vehicle signs on the tractor and equipment. Burmeister stated he was looking down to turn up the AC and looked back up and the tractor was there. Burmeister was ticketed for inattentive driving.

At 8:10 a.m. on August 22, vehicles driven by Lacey Kohl, 36, of Medford and Gloria Harris, 74, of Prince George, Va., were both southbound on Hwy 13 in the city of Medford. The Harris vehicle was behind the Kohl vehicle and struck the rear of the Kohl vehicle. Damage was reported to the rear bumper of the Kohl vehicle.

On August 15, at 12 p.m., vehicles operated by Benjamyn Gruber, 17, of Medford, and Melanie Erspamer, 55, of Medford, were both traveling southbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Little Black, when Erspamer went to turn into the driveway at N1900 Hwy 13. Erspamer stated she had turned her signal on early, as the driveway is on a busy stretch of highway. Gruber stated he was taking a drink from his water and when he put his water down, he observed the Erspamer vehicle slowing in front of him. He told officers he braked, but ultimately struck the rear end of the Erspamer vehicle. Erspamer advised that she observed Gruber approaching at a higher rate of speed and turned into the ditch north of the driveway to avoid the collision, but was struck in the rear, which caused the Erspamer vehicle to continue over the driveway into the ditch to the south of the driveway. Erspamer was removed from the ditch by Krug’s towing and driven from the scene. Gruber was issued a ticket for inattentive driving.

Car vs. Deer

On August 20, at 2:19 a.m., a vehicle operated by Hye Suk Comstock, 63, of Medford, struck a deer traveling on Castle Road in the town of Medford.

On August 25, at 10:40 p.m., a vehicle operated by Vanessa Schlueter, 33, of Rib Lake, struck a deer while northbound on CTH E in the town of Medford.

On August 21, at 9:54 a.m., a vehicle operated by Paula Blasel, 69, of Dorchester, struck a deer while traveling on Gibson Dr. in the town of Little Black.

On August 20, at 4:33 a.m., a vehicle operated by Bradley Hartman, 33, of Medford, struck a deer while traveling on Gibson Dr., in the town of Little Black.

On August 19, at 5:40 a.m., a vehicle operated by CJ Olson, 19, of Withee, struck a deer while traveling on Sawyer Ave. in the town of Hammel.

On August 11, at 1:16 p.m., A vehicle operated by Terri East, 60, of Phillips, was traveling southbound on Hwy 13 just north of the CTH M intersection in the town of Chelsea. A vehicle operated by Luke Peterson, 34, of Marathon City and owned by Schuette Movers of Wausau, was making a left hand turn onto CTH M from Hwy 13. The East vehicle did not stop, striking the back end of the trailer being pulled by Peterson’s vehicle. Minor passengers ages 11-years-old and 7-years-old in the East vehicle were transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinic with suspected minor injuries. East was ticketed for violation of child safety restraint - child four years but younger than 8 years and for inattentive driving.
