For nearly forty years Rod Adams has served the people of his community and his county helping make the tough decisions about taxes and resolving disputes between neighbors.

As Adams explained, his father served in World War 2, his brother served in the Vietnam War and while he took his physical to go into the military he was never called and instead he served his community by going into local government.

Adams got elected to the town board for the town of Holway and served as a town supervisor for four years. He then became the town chairman, a position he has held for the past 35 years.

Recent heath concerns caused Adams’ doctor to advise him to cut back on things and Adams, who is also a representative for the area on the county board, chose to step away from the town chairman position and pass it along to another member of the town board.

During his tenure in office, Adams spearheaded many projects including building a new town shop to better store equipment, purchasing additional land to expand the town’s ball field, and building a new town hall which serves as a community gathering place as well as providing concession area for the ball fields.

During his time in office he has served as the secretary and the treasurer for the Taylor County Town’s Association and is currently on his second round of serving on the Taylor County Board. He previously served from 1998 to 2004 and got back on the board in 2018.

Adams officially retired from his position as Holway Town Chairman on July 11 and said he looks forward to spending more time with his wife of 46years, Nancie, and their three children, Andrea, Amie and Aaron, and their 10 grandchildren.

The Holway community joined in celebrating Adams’ retirement with a party at the town hall on August 10. Residents stopped to visit and thank Adams for his years of service to the community.

Adams expressed his thanks and appreciation for their support over the years.

A surprise guest at the event was Rep. James Edming who presented a plaque from the governor and flags to Adams for his years of service.
