Sarah Jane Czerniak

1938-2024

Sarah Jane Czerniak (nee Kraus), passed away July 24, 2024 at Marshfield Hospital after a brief illness. She was born April 20, 1938 to Edward and Viola (Stendel) Kraus. Her education took place in Little Black Grade School and graduated from Medford High School in 1956. She went to work for Elmer Hedlund Insurance. She married Jerome “jerry” Czerniak on Nov. 1, 1958 at Medford. They moved to Waukesha where they lived for 12 years, then moved back to Curtiss/Owen Withee area.

She was a collecter of many things over the years. She enjoyed her granchildren and was an avid Packer and Badger fan.

Sarah also liked doing yard work and puttering around the home. She enjoyed Alan Jackson music, going to the casino, and flea marketing while Jerry was alive.

Sarah is survived by three sons, Brad (Jean) of Athens, Jeff of Withee, Ted (Kathy) of Medford; one daughter, Sally (Rodney Lehman) of Owen; five grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew, Samantha, Eric and Amber; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Madelyn, Brooklyn, and Sigfried; one brother, Ken (Sue) Kraus of Medofrd; one sister, Ellen (Bill) Welden of Stetsonville; sister-in-law, Elaine (Bill) of Kokome, Ind.; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jerome in 2011; son, Mark in 2019; parents, Ed & Viola Kraus; and brother, Mike Kraus.

Her wishes were to be cremated and no service to be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.

Cremation Society of Altoona assisted the family with arrangements.
