Central Chamber Chorale announces new music director, seeks new singers
The Central Chamber Chorale Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Hana Worsham will be the music director for the Central Chamber Chorale. Tiffany Leffel will serve as the group’s accompanist.
The Central Chamber Chorale is a local choir that performs a variety of classical and contemporary choral music. Free concerts are performed in November and March/April at different sites, all in one weekend. The group rehearses in Marshfield, but singers come from all over central Wisconsin, including Spencer, Loyal, Neillsville, Arpin and other surrounding areas.
For the fall 2023 season, the group will present “Music Through the Ages” on Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Abbotsford and Nov.12 at 3 p.m. in Marshfield.
New director Hana Worsham is a graduate of UWWhitewater with a degree in choral music education. Worsham is a native of Spencer, returning after serving as choir director for Christ Community Church in Beatrice, Neb., and choir director at First English Lutheran Church in Whitewater. Worsham has taught voice, piano and guitar lessons and played the French horn in the community orchestra and wind ensemble. She is the mother of three little girls and her husband is the new director at the LuCille Tack Center for the Arts in Spencer.
New singers are welcome to audition for the upcoming season. Music may be performed in English, Latin, German or other languages. Members must be able to sing, blend, follow directions, regularly attend rehearsals and read music. Membership is subject to a “singerfriendly” audition. High school students with appropriate musical and vocal skills are welcome to inquire about membership as well.
Prospective singers are encouraged to attend the first rehearsal on Monday, Sept. 11, from 7-9 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church 200 S. Lincoln St., Marshfield, to see if the group would be a good fit for them, and stay a few minutes afterward for a brief audition. Rehearsals will continue at First Presbyterian Church on Mondays at 7 p.m. through Nov. 6 and will take place from January through March in the spring.
The area served is central Wisconsin: Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Medford, Abbotsford and surrounding areas. Central Chamber Chorale receives funding from the Wisconsin Arts Board.
