This is just a few comments on life and times here in Taylor County Wisconsin.

Well, well, now we have the Gilman Fire Department as the second area department looking to purchase special equipment to fight electric vehicle fires. I can appreciate the difficulties in trying to fight an EV fire. I recently had a small lithium battery powered audio speaker catch fire on my kitchen counter as we were recharging it.

This whole electric vehicle push is nothing more than feel good virtue signaling Cadillac is going to release a fully EV weighting in at 8,000 pounds The price of this beached whale is approximately $175,000 ‘fully loaded’. Yes, I am sure all of us have that sitting around in our checking accounts immediately available to purchase this land yacht.

Additionally, we are turning what was going to be a chunk of ‘green space’ at the site of the old Riverhouse Inn into a paved parking lot so EV owners can charge their EV vehicles. I dunno, I have to ask myself why I am subsidizing EVs that don’t pay gas taxes.

Also over at our western neighbor Gilman, they are having difficulty recruiting EMTs and first responders. An article in the August 17 edition of The Star News stated one of the reasons for the hiring difficulties was, “The loss of crew members during the period of federally mandated COVID-19 restrictions.” Gee, could this have anything to do with the mandated COVID-19 vaccines. I am not hearing anything from our ‘vaccine cheerleaders’ from back in 2021.

So now the federal ‘gumbmint’ not only targets our citizens on the national level for unacceptable political thought, but we have done this on the local level to veterans who are concerned with recent developments in the veterans services office.

Lastly where is the reporting on the question Mike Tanis asked about the apparently light sentence given to one individual who received for what would appear to be some very serious sexual assault charges against a minor child. This cannot go answered. Our Taylor County District Attorney Kristi Tlusty needs to answer for this. — Bryan Bormann, Medford
