Aquila Resources is hoping to expand the boundaries of its search for mineral deposits in Taylor County. It has asked the United States Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management for a new permit to explore north and west of the Mondeaux Dam in the Town of Westboro. The company has been testing the Bend area, north of Perkinstown along the Yellow River, in recent years.

The company is now asking to conduct mineral searches east of its current Bend Project location. The new exploration would center around the CTHs D and E area in the Town of Westboro, north and west of the Mondeaux Dam. The exploration would take in sections, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 22, and 23. A helicopter survey of the area conducted a few years ago pointed to an area with potential. The area of interest is on the west side of CTH E, leaving a fairly good-sized buffer between any exploration work and the recreation area and popular natural spring visited by many.
