Two vehicle crashes

On February 21, at 5:53 p.m. Danielle Haynes, 33, of Medford was parked in the driveway of Riverside Terrace, No. 127. Haynes backed out of the driveway, striking the back driver side of a parked vehicle owned by Chloe Price of Withee. Price’s vehicle was legally parked on the south side of the road.

On February 20, at 1:35 p.m. Shawn Frailing, 49, of Wausau was traveling westbound on west Broadway Ave. Frailing slowed down to make a left turn. Hunter Channing, 24, of Ogema was traveling westbound behind Frailing’s vehicle. When Frailing slowed down Channing was not able to stop due to the road and weather conditions and side swiped the back passenger side of Frailing’s vehicle. Channing’s vehicle sustained functional damage to its left side front and Frailing’s vehicle sustained functional damage to its right side rear. Channing was issued a citation for operating while suspended.

At 3:52 p.m. on February 16, Nevaeh Hoffman, 16, of Medford was attempting to exit a parking spot in the parking lot at 1015 Broadway Ave. Hoffman turned too sharp and struck a vehicle owned by Chad Losiewicz of Withee which was legally parked. Losiewicz’s vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the accident. Hoffman’s vehicle sustained functional damage to the passenger rear tire. Losiewicz’s vehicle sustained functional damage to the driver front corner and the front. Both of the vehicles were removed by the owners.

At 3:49 p.m. on February 15, a vehicle operated by Jordan Lynn Wicks, 25, of Medford and containing passengers Devon Jeremy Wicks, 23, of Medford and two children, was northbound on Hwy 13 in the town of Chelsea near CTH M. Wicks slowed to turn east and was struck by a vehicle operated by Calissa Kay Moucha, 18, of Rib Lake. Moucha’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Wicks received a citation for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

A 11:51 a.m. on February 20, a vehicle operated by Charles Lee Birkenholz 81, Gilman, and containing passenger Dorothy Jane Birkenholz, 80, of Gilman, was making a left hand turn out of the driveway of N3260 CTH Q in the town of Medford. A vehicle operated by Amanda Lynn Beck, 36, of Medford was traveling southbound on CTH Q just north of the driveway. Birkenholz did not see the Beck vehicle and pulled out in front of it. Beck swerved to the right into the west side ditch to avoid hitting the Birkenholz vehicle. Charles Birkenholz received a citation for failure to yield right of way.

At 7:06 p.m. on February 20, a vehicle operated by Aaron Julian, 22, Medford, was traveling east on CTH M in the town of Medford when the car shut off. The vehicle was coasting trying to get off the roadway and enter a driveway up the road. A vehicle driven by Adian Mambo, 20, of River Falls, was also traveling east on CTH M and did not see the Julian vehicle until it was too late. The Mambo vehicle struck the Julian vehicle in the rear and sent it down the road further coming to rest on the south shoulder of CTH M. Both units were drug into a private driveway where the property owner said they could be removed at a later date.

One vehicle crashes

At 12:22 p.m. on February 20, a vehicle operated by Duane Joseph Dachel, 64, of Sheldon, was pulling a trailer and traveling westbound on Spur Road just east of Hwy 73 in the town of Jump River. Dachel lost control due to the ice and snow on the road and came to rest in the south side ditch facing east. Dachel received a citation for non-registration of automobile.

At 1:28 p.m. on February 20, a vehicle operated by David Vicente, 21, Abbotsford, was northbound on Hwy 13 near N155 Hwy 13 in the town of Deer Creek. Vicente passed another vehicle and lost control upon re-entering the northbound lane traffic. The vehicle then spun out on the icy roads and rolled onto its side. Vicente was initially trapped in the vehicle but law enforcement was able to get him out prior to the fire department arriving on scene. The vehicle was towed from the scene with functional damage. The driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

At 2:40 p.m. on February 20, a vehicle operated by Mark Krueger, 65, of Tripoli, was traveling north on Hwy 13 just north of Gunnar Road in the town of Westboro. He was pulling a trailer and lost control due to the snow and ice on the road. The trailer then jackknifed hitting Krueger’s vehicle.

At 11:30 p.m. on February 20, a vehicle operated by Erling Ariel Savala Rivera, 29, of Rib Lake, was traveling north on CTH C in the town of Greenwood, when it lost control, crossed the center line and entered the west ditch. The vehicle had minimal front end damage but had pre-existing damage to the back window and left rear of the vehicle. It was left in the ditch and was going to be removed in the morning. The driver received citations for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and operating without a valid license (second within three years).

At 4:34 a.m. on February 21, a vehicle operated by John Briese, 54, of Medford, was traveling west on Apple Ave. in the town of Little Black, when it began to fishtail.It did this approximately three times before entering the north ditch where it overturned and came to rest on its roof facing southeast. The truck was towed due to disabling damage.

Deer related

The following deer-related crashes occurred: Paul Allen Newman, 51, Rib Lake, on CTH D, in the town of Westboro at 3 a.m. on February 16.


A vehicle operated by Marvin Chavarria Blandon, 23, of Dorchester, was traveling southbound on CTH C near Willow Ave. in the town of Browning at 2 a.m. on February 11. The driver claimed that a deer ran into the roadway. Blandon swerved to miss the deer then overcorrected. The vehicle then crashed into the guardrail on the south side of the road. The vehicle then flipped over onto the roof. The driver and two passengers left the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. Phone contact was made many hours after the crash. The driver could not identify the two passengers he had in the vehicle. The driver was ultimately cited for operating without a valid license, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and keeping open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.Taylor County Sheriff’s Department
